I hope she releases another remix album, another GH and a boxset in the next 2 years to end with the deal so she can tell 'em "Sayonara, baby" and finally do whatever she fucking wants to do.  :britney-badass:

More artists are founding their own labels, Charli XCX announced today her own label and I think Britney should do the same.
She knows exactly how the entertainment industry works after 19 years being on it.

I remember Billboard reporting in 2014 that a few UMG labels were lining up bids for Britney for after BJ got released and then it was announced she had renewed with RCA, probably a 4 album deal, that seems to be the standard nowadays.

Her original deal was obviously the same as Kesha's (8 albums) and that's probably what JT got too.

I still wish she'd gone to a smaller UMG label (Hollywood, Virgin etc.) where she'd be the biggest artist and get all the attention while still having the support of a huge major. It would have cost the earth to buy back her catalog from RCA tho.

I thought her contract was up after BJ :mhm:

But yeah Kesha's had 3 albums and they said she had 6 more to go so that makes 9 so who knows. Maybe every label is different? :orlynow:

She renewed it for 4 more .. If her contract was up there would be no b9 coming

Britney's original EIGHT ALBUM contract with Jive Records (which was the norm in the 90s) was finished with Britney Jean (it's believed BJ was released to meet contractual agreements, so she could re-negotiate with RCA, and was never planned to be promoted as her 1st RCA Release, like B9 will be).

Though it's never been confirmed exactly, many sources stated that Britney signed another additional 4 album contract (the normal offer with labels these days) with RCA Records in 2013, after Britney Jean was released, which is also the reason why it's believed Las Vegas took so long to negotiate.

I was reading up on Kesha's ordeal and I was curious about Britney. And also J.T's. He's only released 3 since 2002.

Funny thing is I think I heard a rumor a long time ago that *NSYNC were still contracted to release more albums even after they took this very long indefinite probably never gonna end "hiatus" and its obvious they're not gonna release anything else. So in the case of Justin, I would imagine he's supposed to release 2 more before he renews or bounces. I bet he's renegotiated some since the second album. With Britney idk for sure but my guess is that BJ finished up her initial contract which was probably renegotiated around the 3rd or 4th album and if I were her, I would have only added an additional 3 albums because who knows what she or the label is gonna want from her career in the few next years. In that case, I imagine that B9 should come out this year, she'll probably release a greatest hits to coincide with the completion of POM and then she'll release B10 in 2019 (her 20th anniversary since the release of BOMT).

I think they normally start an artist with 3 albums, then if they're successful they add more and usually extend the original deal to 5 to 8 albums.

I feel you but I think the label probably learned a bit from the horror show that was the fan's reaction to BJ so from now on they'll probably back off a bit and trust her and her team to figure things out (unless she's putting up songs that are way off base and have no chance of success then they'll intervene).

The only way Britney or any artist for that matter will do whatever the hell they want is if they release things with no intention of making money on it, like just recording songs for the fun of it and not trying to sell records. Otherwise someone else always owns the music and distribution rights or will have a say so, even if she started her own label. She'll still have to answer to someone or consider business decisions when releasing stuff.

lmfao, it's usually 4 for solo artists, 3 for Groups/Bands, and that's only the early 2000's that started happening. Back in the 80's & 90's, it was usually 6-8 album contracts, with "negotiate periods" (usually 3-4 years). I study this. lol.

Britney is 100% not in the place to launch her label. That's something for 10 years from now, that's something that takes major time and planning, but I would love to see it all day.

However, regarding BJ, you are silly if you think the Label was responsible for the mess that was that era. That was all Team Britney & Britney. Besides, like I said, I think RCA put forth some decent efforts to reach out to fans and promote the record, forcing Britney to do some promote, however, I do not think it was their intentions to market it as a major album though. It was purely released so Britney could meet her Jive requirements, and renegotiate her contract - Vegas took so long, because if Britney had decided to go to another label, RCA would have owned all of her catalog, making it very difficult to do a Greatest Hits show.

Yeah, during the 90s/early 2000s there were some baaaaad (for the artist) contracts. Hearing that you have a 9 album deal with one record label sounds great at first - until you end up in a Dr. Luke/Sony situation with no way out. If Kesha only had to do one more album, I could see her doing it and cutting her ties fast. But 6 more??? >.<

Hey listen feel how you wanna feel. And i agree that Britney isn't ready for own label though it would be nice (hence why I responded to the quoted with "i feel you" that means the same as I understand what you're saying. But please don't call me silly (that's just a "polite" way of saying I'm stupid which I'm not). I just have my suspicions about why BJ turned out the way it did and it seems like Britney was excited about the album for bit but then she stopped and I have to assume that's because of the label's interference. With or without promotion it was poorly to indifferently received by critics and fans alike . That comes down to the production. Anyway my point is don't call me "silly" because my opinion differs from yours.

I think you are getting a little offended for no reason hun. lmfao.

I don't know what you guys have smoked but britney NEVER had a 8 album contract.
It is known her first contract was 5 albums, and it endend with GH:MP. That is sure.
She signed a new one in 2006 (or 2005?), i dont remember how many tho because im not sure if the single collection is included or not. But another thing that is sure is that artists who were moved to RCA had a temporary 1 album contract. BJ was that 1 album contract it wasn't part of her second contract with Jive, which endend with FF.
Then she obviously signed a new one with RCA but i dont know how many, it was rumored 4.

No, not at all! Record contracts always provides the release only of studio albums and NOT the collections!

So, "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative", "The Singles Collection", "B In The Mix The Remixes vol.1" and "B In The Mix The Remixes vol.2" (and of course all of her future collections) are NOT included in any of Britney's contract, which instead are all about studio albums only.

This is 100% sure, that's how it works

Contracts include studio albums + a certain number of compilation albums. MP was included and she endend her contract with it.

But anyway, the point is she never had a 8 albums contract. In 2005 Britney even said in an interview she hasn't renewed with Jive yet.

No! Compilations are never in the contract, and Britney's five album contract ended with Blackout (even though it was supposed to end with Original Doll)... Then she signed for three more albums (Circus, Femme Fatale, Britney Jean)... and in 2013/2014 she signed with RCA for four more albums, which B9 will be the first one of them!

P.S. go to Kesha and tell her about a certain number of compilations that she could release in her contract... ahahah   :qtb:

P.P.S. but on one thing you're right: she never had a 8 album contract!

I'm sorry but yes compilation albums can be included -especially when the artist is required to record new songs-, it's still an album. 4 albums contract for example, doesn't especially mean 4 studio albums, it can be 3 studio albums + 1 compilation album. It depends of contracts, there is a reason why it's called studio album and compilation album, and not just album, it's specified on contracts. So unless she indeed signed for studio albums only, as far i know, it was 5 albums (which can include compilation), and not 5 studio albums.

Then i can be wrong but i'm pretty sure that's how her contract was, plus that's written everywhere.

I've no memories of Blackout being under her first contract, and i read mid 2005 VH1 said she renewed with Jive, that was 2 years before BO was even out so..

Idk tbh.

All i hope is that she re-worked the terms of her new contract with RCA so she can have a little more control over the kind of music she wants. I don't want a FF or BJ situation.
