It wasn't tho , once u are switched to a different label u have to sign a contract thru their company .. Britney had 1 more album left w/ jive so RCA gave Brit a 1 album deal& when she finished it was her decision to renew the contract for a 4 album deal . At the end of the day their marketing & promotions lead were spot on before but now that they have a new team working there so they are definitely greedy when it comes down to money and don't want to put up the money for promotion

Lmfao, they definitely didn't give her a 1 album deal. that's not a thing in the industry, but okay then. lol

they go according to their contracts boo .. Did u have dinner with Britney afterwards?

No, but my experience in the industry, as minor and still growing as it may be, has taught me alot, especially when it comes to contracts, and their importance.

The fact is Jive contracts did not become null & void the minute they sold off their artists, they just became a launching ground from new ones. That's why Britney Jean was not a success - because RCA didn't want it to be. They didn't want to put forth all the effort for the album, knowing that the possiblity of Britney not re-signing with them was there. "They go with their contracts" - you are right, and Britney's contract was 8 albums. She released 7, and still had 1 more to go. Legally, RCA has to respect the Jive contract before giving her a brand new one, that is the law here bruh.

I'm telling you, because this is Britney's first official release with them & her RCA Contract, RCA is going to put alot of effort forth to ensure it's a quality hit.

I mean, I think it told them alot that with little to no promo, Britney Jean has managed to sell 300k to date, produced a Top 15 hit w/ Work Bitch, and even charted with the 2nd single - despite only using Music Videos for promo.

That's also why Vegas took so long - She had to finalize her RCA contract, before Vegas, because had she signed with another label, her catalogue would still belong to RCA and she'd have had to pay them to use the songs, or buy them back (which, is not cheap, even for someone worth 200 million dollars!)

Lmao at this mess, that is not the law lmao

Once u get transferred & undergo a new record company u must always no matter what sign a contract before any release of an album thru their company, that's how things work sis. The artists were no longer obligated towards Jive records due to the shut down, they signed contracts according to their contracts w/ Jive. Britney only had 1 album left with her contract w/ Jive therefore RCA had her sign w/ a 1 album deal then after BJ she later on resigned for a 4 album deal. Record companies can not undergo contracts thru different record companies but their own or else they would not be seeing any royalties & profits from any album that was released. My uncle is a lawyer & I used to work as his assistant ...

Another thing sis & I don't want to repeat myself about .. RCA has poor marketing & promotion not just with Britney but all of their artists .. This has nothing to do w/ Vegas

Femme Fatale did very well on the charts and well.. what can you expect for a 4th single? It was ok.

I know a lot of people wanted Inside Out (love it) but I'm glad it was a single. I think it was the perfect last single. She sounds beautiful on it. Plus, the video features classyney, thiefney, nakedney and sexney. The video alone is why we gotta love the song in a nutshell

Wish it was added to the FFT after it became a single though :crying4:

and I really like Criminal, but it was NEVER going to be a hit

True. Radio programmers said at the time they weren't going to play the song because of its content (ie. being in love with a murderer)

I never knew Lil Monsters flagged the video  :4music:

Criminal was big for a while. It was all over the radio stations here in Australia and it seemed like the GP enjoyed the song.

But then again, we use Pretty Girls on almost every advertisement for a show

I've never liked Criminal that much tho. I can remember rolling my eyes back into my head so hard when it was announced it was gonna be a single.

I thought maybe if Brit had her own label and money to market herself with the freedom and control she had, then perhaps things would be different.

But then again, current Brit doesn't seem to care much about all that.
