is the physical difference between japanese versions and non-japanese versions only a small thin piece of paper describing the album in japanese, further everything else is in English?

Japanese versions usually come out at the same time as original worldwide release, but in some cases they can be released earlier or sooner, it all depends on various factors. The main difference is that they always include not only the obi strip, but also lyric booklet inside (in japanese and english). On some releases you can also find extra stickers or other small stuff (for example GP:MP includes a little pendant or key chain, whatever you wanna call it). The easiest way to get them is ordering from ebay or some japanese music stores that can ship it to you (www.cdjapan.co.jp for example). Hopefully this helps

It's not. They do that because in Japan everything is expensive, and people prefers to buy the USA stuff, which is cheaper. But, since they add more song, that will make the people in Japan to buy in the Local Market
