Britney Spears has appeared on the front cover of V Magazine's 100th edition and opened up about her faith. The 34-year-old pop star gave an interview to the American magazine where she said she had "my relationship with God and myself and that's what matters to me", adding "I really don't care what most people think."

Spears has enjoyed a diverse range of careers from being a singer-songwriter, dancer, actor, author and reality TV star. She has had an equally varied experience of religion over her lifetime. Here are five facts about Britney Spears' faith:

1. She was born and raised a southern Baptist.

"I'm a Baptist", said the star early in her career. "I grew up going to church but I think you can have spiritual experiences without going to church."

Early on in her career she was famous for saying she was a virgin and intended to remain chaste until marriage. This attitude gradually faded away as her performances became more provocative and she entered a long-term relationship with boyband singer Justin Timberlake.

I personally think its great that she has had an open mind about religion. I think it shows she is somewhat of a philosopher questioning everything even what she grew up on :tbh: I myself have also grew up southern baptist, then was agnostic, the last few years identified with Christianity, and now I am really interested in learning more about and maybe becoming Buddhist. :yaknow: life is about trial and errors and learning and experimentations. whatever she chooses to follow long term will be decided on wisely :tbh:

I grew up educated as a Christian, and I was baptized as a baby. I have catechesis (I do not know if this is how you say in english) up to 14 years and then decided to get out of there because I no longer identify with what they learned. I have an open mind about religion too and i don't think I have to go to church all the time to show my faith. Today rarely go to church, but like Britney said: "my relationship whith God and myself and that's what matters to me".

I grew up a Catholic and I think it's great she's been able to hold ties with the faith through everything. I've only been on the earth for 20 something years and I've already renounced the religion.

I am somewhat jealous of people who adhere to any religious sector, it would be nice to be able to find comfort in something higher and values that an organisation teaches.

I had a fucked childhood with Christianity and it's turned me agnostic for probably forever  :4music:

so kudos to Brit for still believing in something greater even though she's had a harder life than all of us.

I believe that in part was for her to believe in something greater than ourselves, as God, she managed to overcome their problems and move on with your life without worrying about what others say because only she and God know your truth and what it means for many people in this world. She is an inspiration to us and knows that we often find comfort in their music and documentaries to surpass anything we, whether we are happy or sad. I remember an interview she gave in 2006 when she was pregnant with all that was going on around her, the journalist asked her how she still she was a lucky and she replied "I have to believe I'm here for a reason" and the journalist asked "what is the reason?" and she said "I'm not sure. I keep looking every day, just like you." Today she knows the answer, are his fans, family and his legacy in the history of music and culture.
To have faith we do not have to necessarily believe in God but believe in something bigger to us, in this case, many fans of Britney find their strength and faith in Britney and what it gives us as an artist and human being.  :Godney:
