I think they hate on Britney because in her prime, Britney was more a Janet 2.0 than a Madonna 2.0. A lot of them claim that Britney stole Janet everything.

Well it's kinda true, but it's not like Britney blatantly ripped Janet off. Britney has always cited her as an inspiration and never claimed everything she did was original (unlike some... *cough*gaga/beyonce*cough*). Janet's influence throughout Britney's career is widely noted and particularly obvious during the 'Britney' era. I've never understood all the comparisons with Madonna because they're actually nothing alike.

And Janet has a career because she's a fucking queen. Where are the rest of the Jackson family? Doing z-grade reality shows nobody watches. The Jackson name is more of a curse than a blessing at this point. Janet made it because she has talent and is the closest thing to her brother out of that family.

 

With that said, she's pretty much going through her FF era atm. Sloppy, dumbed down dancing... tacky production... her current tour is a mess. I'd love a collab but at this point I don't think it could live up to the hype.

 I agree and never understood the comparisons to Madonna.  In sound, image, and overall stage presence Britney has always been molded after Janet and seems to cite her more often as an inspiration as well.    

 

Listening to Janet's body of work negates anyone that says she's only a success because of her last name  , while Madonna is usually the first name that comes to mind, Janet is the blue print for female pop artist.  No Jackson last name needed.   :prettay:    

 

I watched her latest tour about a month ago, and while I agree the production and sole costume is underwhelming, but I thought her dancing was great.  There was no dying down (and her lip-syncing abilities is truly a work of art) and kept up with her younger female dancer with ease. The only positive about the FFT was the setlist, tbh.     I would love a collab but agree that time has passed, I think in '01 would have been the perfect time.

well we're all being refunded, and today she tweeted that she'll "reschedule the shows when she can"

whatever the fuck that means - it'll be september earliest and i'm not even sure I believe it will happen because it means expecting people to buy tickets all over again, which after this mess... i'm not sure they'll feel secure about doing.
