Britney, A Graphic Design Graduation Project 8-)

This is my first post here, although I've been lurking for some time. But I'm graduating with my bachelor's degree this spring, and I'm making my final project about Britney!

 

It consists of six books (or zines or whatever), each chronicling a time/event/era in her career.

 

1.    Sweetney

    Inside the Mind (and Bedroom) of America’s Teen Queen  (Excerpts from her interviews in Rolling Stone 1999–2003, focusing on how the interviewer describes her)

 

2.    Relationshipney (haha its a working title)

    The Men of Crossroads (Dialogue between Lucy, Kit and Mimi and the main male characters, as a representation of the ways Britney deals with patriarchal norms in her life and music)

 

3.    Uncontentney

    Can You Handle My Truth? (Her relationship with Kevin, her search for independence/happiness and how it coincided with her fall from grace)

 

4.    Unfitney

    Miss Bad Media Karma  (Excerpts of posts and pictures from Perezhilton.com, presented unedited, alongside lyrics to Mona Lisa)

 

5.    Regretney

    What Was I Thinking? (For The Record, her return to "normalcy" and ascent to the proverbial throne, culminating in her Las Vegas residency)

 

6.    Britney

    The Greatest Creation Starts from the Small Seeds (excerpts from her Instagram, especially the video she posted a while ago where she was painting to La Mer)

 

 It's also a typographical analysis, as i'm only using fonts/elements from her various releases (so if you know of any fonts, please let me know haha)

 

TL;DR:

I have to ask, what do you think are the significant moments in Britney's career that foreshadowed coming events?

What do you think of the narrative above? What would you want to include in a project like this?

I think the names could be further improved though lol

 

Maybe the first one could be Innocent-ney or something that describes her being the girl-next-door? 

 

Also maybe you could Include:

 

Prime-ney (the era in which she's at the top of her game)

Comeback-ney / The Comeback

 

Maybe you don't really have to include "-ney" in all of them? lol BUT it's totally up to you of course

 

Or you could make use the album/songs names/lyrics as the titles that chronicle her life in that era eg:

 

 

First era could be: I was Born to Make You Happy

 

 

The era when she gets a little sexy and controversial : I'm Not That Innocent

 

 

Not a Girl, Not Yet a Women...  2002 - 2003

 

 

Toxic : the toxic / chaotic times 2003 - 2006

 

 

Why Should I be Sad? - 2007 era

 

Stronger than Yesterday : comeback?

`cause I think imo, they would be more fitting for the books/magazines you're doing. lol I think.

I'm including the –ney to all the titles because of the way her fans refer to her. Here, in Reykjavík, people don't generally know about that, so it's an interesting angle  I think. 

 

And with the songs-as-titles, I'm including various song lyrics in the margins – thanks for pointing me to Born to Make You Happy, I was in trouble finding a song for the first book, but that song was hidden in plain sight. I will use that

I'm pretty excited too of incorporating that story that was circulating about how she was inspired by marxist theories about labor when she wrote Work Bitch. I know it's bullshit, but I think it's pretty significant when analysing her career.
