Her team never released standard CD singles in the early days which really hurt the singles from BOMT / Oops. Then she was banned from radio by Clear Channel during the Britney era. She's actually gotten much higher positions with singles later in her career despite her earlier hits being more iconic. That's why I don't really give a fuck how her singles chart - when flawless hits like Slave and MATM couldn't reach top 10, who cares if WB couldn't? But hopefully this era she gets at least two more top 10s... and a #1 would be nice, but I won't hold my breath  ;)

A lot of very popular singers probably don't have as many #1s as you think (peep Beyonce), which is why Taylor Swift's stuff is so impressive, as much as I dislike her.

Holy shit work bitch went to #12 ? I thought it flopped hard. she had songs that flopped harder than PG This kind of gave me hope for b9 tbh

PG didn't do nearly as bad as everyone made it out, except it had zero staying power because the Iggy hate was at an all-time high. I wanted her to stay far away from Iggy for that reason, but oh well.

And yes, Work Bitch did quite well and it irritates me when people call it a flop. She had songs that are seemingly more loved that didn't reach #12. Perception =/= reality.

You couldn't have said it any better sis .. I'm still shocked that Work bitch went #12 & actually went platinum tbh. Hopefully we get better numbers for b9

Was this just in the US? I had all of her physical singles in store in the UK and from other countries.. They charted quite well here and in south africa. I was shocked to see Brit had more top 10 hits worldwide as opposed to US - buy I suppose she sold more albums so who really cares about the singles..

I believe it was just in the US. I think the strategy was exactly that - to promote album sales rather than single sales. That's part of the reason her albums were so massive. Rather than just buying singles, fans would have to buy the entire album. Now it's so easy to just pick and choose which singles you want, whereas back then it was all or nothing.

I suppose the sales for albums were more valuable.. And I am pretty glad they focused on albums as those sales actually matter.

This!!

PG peaked at 29 while

BTI: 43

MATM: 35

Overprotected: 86 :orangu:

Slave:27

And Peasants were quick to call it a flop. It just goes to show how people didnt care about sales and numbers before like they do now :4music:
