I stan hard for ITZ!

That album was life for me. I think I must have been like 15 at the time and my God(ney)!!! I loved it!!

First of all... The era started with THE KISS at the VMA's, followed by one of her strongest promo tours: the live performances of MATM at the NFL opening season, the TRL segment, the leather outfit from the AMA's (a routine that was later copied by Thieveoncé) and the ABC Special and the Out Al Night from MTV.

Like, come on! The tattoo sleeves, the leather pants, the hair, the makeup! Bitch was on point!

The videos were really strong that era too. MATM had Madonna and the choreo was sick (plus the bed and the swing, and the leeves, and the maze).

Then TOXIC... The video to end all of the music videos! Don't have to say anything else.

Everytime was powerful as well, with the press scandal about the suicide storyline and has now become legendary for predicting her breakdown with the paparazzi following everywhere and the ambulance and all.

Okay... I'm a fan, bye!

i thought i was the only one who felt that way

They gays think a woman beginning a breakdown is something to Stan for...she clearly was heartbroken over Justin, her parents divorce, the new bad press about her personal life etc. :o ..Britney seemed like the happiest girl in the world during Britney era. she was a true class act and inspiration :reductive: of course their were the haters sayin she couldn't sing and that she was a slut...but that's b/c their fave was never in her league :tea2: during itz there was something so fake about her and it was the fact that she was in major denial about all the stress and pain she was dealing with...fast forward 3 years later and she was shaving her head...sad....it's been a long ride with Britney but I will always love her :reductive::queenflopga:

Britney era, Janet Jackson's influence was clear as day and she killed it.  Plus the Overprotected (DC remix) trumps a lot of her videos easily. :britney-awyeah:

ITZ era was good but it was cut short due to her knee injury, but that aside it was a satisfying time to be a fan.  :fliph:

Britney era  :yas:

Once she had stablished herself as more than One-Hit-Wonder in 2000 she released a fucking movie, released an album, 6 music videos and well full-out on a huge tour. Justney was cute while it lasted and she performed with fucking Michael Jackson in 2001 and met him again at the VMA's in 2002.. My idols together  :crying1:

In The Zone era started off great. Even though the backlash started she released a great album and the promo was great, but I can't pick this era because it was unfinished.. It went downhill with Outrageous knee injury and how she had to cancel The Onyx Hotel Tour  :boring:

What?

What's the story there with the store clerk and your dad? And how come they punished you for it?

it's not really that juicy  :youpoorthing:

Ok, so me and my dad went to the CD store once when I was around 4-5, and they had the new Britney CD I Wanted :yay1:

I called it the "Blue Britney" CD but it was actually ITZ. Anyways I reached out for it and we went to checkout. The clerks eyes kinda dropped, and I don't remember exactly what he said, all I know was that he refused to sell us the CD. Then my parents crushed me even more by agreeing with him, and banning Britney in the house. They took my CDs and hid them.  :crying5:

I eventually forgot about Britney till around 2008-2009. I was snooping around our house and I found a copy of Britney. I was curious so I popped it into our car stereo and fell in love with Britney's music all over again. Around that time, I brought a copy of Circus with my own money, only because I recognized the name. I hadn't heard any of the songs on the album back then but it was by the same person that sang the amazing CD I found. :aintevenmad:

Maybe they thought it was inappropriate for you... But that really sucks though, being banned from Britney's music.  :gloria:

The store clerk shouldn't have the right to stop someone from buying an album like ITZ with no explicit sticker, especially when the parents are around, whether or not they felt it was too sexual for a kid.

I assume that was it too. That was also around the time the press was shading Britney a lot, there's a lot of news articles from back then of her trying drugs, not being a virgin, etc. So I think that was their main reasoning  :crying1:

:omg1: I agree

However due to the fact that it was a small town store and not some huge franchise lead the owner to believe he had more rights over what he sold.  :displeased:

I can't at people thinking that they're more qualified to give their opinions because they experienced the eras first hand. Music is music and videos will always be there to watch, I'm pretty sure everyone is aware of how massive Britney was at that time. It's just a different perspective on the same thing :frenchy:

Also, why do most of the people who like Britney more than ITZ have such a hard time accepting that others can have different opinions?  :zoomzoom:

It is difficult to choose between these two eras, but I choose the "Britney" era because it was marked by a new image of her, had 6/7 singles/videos, a game for the PS2, a wonderful tour, a special on MTV "Total Britney Live" and "Diary of Britney Spears" which showed the preparation of this new era, a film "Crossroads" and several DVD's like "Britney: the Videos", "Stages: Three Days in Mexico" and "Live From Las Vegas"! Nor should we forget the advertising ads she did as Toyota and Pepsi!

After almost 15 years, I can conclude that the "Britney" album was undoubtedly his most publicized album and promoted today and this era was one of the best in Britney career that consolidated as the Princess of Pop and as a major performers world.

Yes, it is a difficult choice, but I chose "Britney" era because it was much more complete than "In The Zone" era, it only had 3 singles / videos and a interrupted tour!  :crying1:

B/c nostalgia makes ppl delusional but I remember correctly so Ik how each era made me feel as a fan...ff had amazing videos but that doesn't make it top the Britney era b/c of it :tea2: it's ok to like w/e they wanna like but as a fan that experienced all the eras it was much better during Britney than itz b/c majority of the world were stans and it was cool to like her and wanna dance like her...during itz ppl really wasn't feeling her and I began not to b/c she seemed seemed fake :reductive:

I totally get what you mean, I'm surprised she managed to hold it together for as long as she did during the ITZ era tbh. Sometimes it did feel like she was overcompensating for something by acting overly goofy. She seemed so much more put together in Stages than in Chaotic :tbh: I'm so jealous you got to experience a time when Britney was universally loved  :crying5:

Good to see that there are some members here who can give there opinion without getting defensive or being delusional

Aww thank you for understanding  some ppl wanna get bitchy when I'm just giving incite from my own personal experience as a fan :4music: ...my comments are about the overall era..I think ppl prefer the album itz and think that makes up for 3 videos, a cancelled tour, her worst vocals up until that point the negative press from Justin, 55 hour marriage, etc....it was a lot at once but obv I stood by her but she had already transitioned to adult artist and sex icon during Britney era and she did it perfectly and seemed genuine...itz she seemed clearly hurt by the pressure of fame, Justin, her parents, being over worked etc....u picked the perfect comparison chaotic and stages. Her personality on mtv diary was her true personality(similar to how she is now) itz she had this try hard vibe goin on :reductive:

Thanks for proving why it's needed for fans that experienced the eras to give an unbiased opinion :moorangu:
