According to a new article from the Las Vegas Sun, producers of the 2016 Billboard Music Awards want Britney Spears to perform!

Here is a direct quote from the article:

BRITNEY’S INVITE: Producers of the 2016 Billboard Music Awards are hoping to land Planet Hollywood headliner Britney Spears for their ABC telecast from the new T-Mobile Arena on May 22 so that she can debut her new single, “Make Me (Oooh).”

But there are a lot of logistics and times to be resolved before any final decision, so the official status as of today is “nothing can be confirmed or denied at this time.” Producers are trying to adjust telecast plans in an effort to figure out a way for Britney to attend and perform.

Let's hope this performance happens! It would be an epic launch of her new upcoming single "Make Me (Oooh)!"

This! A performance is a performance, and if everything is set the way its been reported, missing the billboard awards would be huge missed opportunity.

I was so surprised to see the meltdowns after bbma 2015 tbh I'm the first to critique but I was totally slayed and everyone in my house was slayed and still think it was live and I didn't tell them otherwise they still think Britney stole the show and she did live or not and she'll steal it again whether she's there or not

JLo has a show the night of the BBMAs so it can't be a real live performance. She could prerecord it again OR actually go to the T-Mobile Arena. It's not at MGM Grand this year so PH and Caesers might let her do it.

I don't think she's lazy, but it's a different working process for her, like it was 15 years ago. She's a grown woman now, with children and that's why it's taking so much time for her to do anything really. She's a great mother who puts her children first!
 

I just think her team could do a LOT more for her, tbh I only like Larry and Felicia from the whole department. haha
Okay, then again - I do not actually know all of her team and how they work, but still.. we can all see she must change something in order to promote her music better.
​The question that remains is: Is Britney okay with how her team is working or she doesn't care? (I really doubt that last one would be the case)

​I'm just happy that Britney is happy, so... I couldn't care less if she is taking her time. If we are her true fans, we will wait her and stand by her side NO MATTER WHAT!
