All of this reinforces the 66-year-old hitmaker as an old-school entertainer whose Wednesday debut is sure to be a contrast to his Axis roommates, Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez.

“When you study dancers rehearsing, they rehearse in front of mirrors because they want to see what they look like,†he notes. “I go to a show to see what the crowd looks like.

“Britney does a great job; it’s just that it’s a different style,†he adds. And it’s not a style of “ ‘My next song is this. I hope you like it.’ Are you kidding me? That’s not how you get to the next song. Basically, this is going to be a night of storytelling.â€

One style isn't better or worse than the other, it just depends on your preference. I'd rather go to a Britney show than sit through 10 minutes of a talking intro to a 3 minute song.

I agree I've always thought it's a bit selfish to talk about your memories like you're so important to guide people or what. She   just goes there and do what she like and what we all like.

I kinda agree with him and I don't feel what he said was bad.. There's some fans that have said that they love the show but that it's too rushed and moves on to the next song really quick. Britney also lacks of fan interaction & just goes along with her script. If y'all look at the full footage of the show that a fan posted y would definitely see how rushed it is

What he's saying is kinda true tho..Britney's show is very rushed & she lacks fan interaction & doesn't even talk to them

I would've loved to hear Britney speak about her favorite songs, or memories, before launching into some of them.   :yay1: She is on auto pilot the moment she hits the stage.  Great show, and I wanna go again once she releases new music, but the brisk 90 minutes feels more like a live action music video.

I don't think it's rushed, but I do agree about fan interaction. But, like I said, that doesn't make her show bad or his good. It's about your preference and I still prefer seeing Britney's show, where she didn't speak a word to the audience than a show where all the perform does is talk.

He's right and not shading at all. The guy is very respectful when he talks, i wouldn't say he's a legend but he's a major artist for sure as well :mahhaw: I'm not a fan but i respect him, he's always very correct in what he says. He's cool

And i'd also prefer to go to a Britney show where there are intros which are not long and they're not that many :P but i wouldn't mind if one day she chooses to talk a bit about her songs or some career memories once in a while tbh  :)

A fan recorded the full show & it pretty much is rushed .. Like as soon as a song finishes it rushes on to the next one quickly. I do get what Lionel is saying tho.. He's not saying that she has to talk for a long time, he's just basically saying that she should introduce the song before performing it & talk to the crowd (Britney used to do this) I mean I do get what you're saying because who wouldn't love to see a good Britney show but a tHe same time I would definitely love for Brit to speak & interact with her fans that would be cool. I mean Britney only talks 3 times out of the whole show lol

That's a matter of opinion tbh, I think when you're there or even watching you're so wrapped up in the show that it can feel rushed because you're enjoying it so much. I feel like if Britney stopped between each song or even a couple of songs to talk to would take away from the flow of the show. The amount of times she does stop is perfect imo, but changing up the dialog would make a huge difference instead of saying the same script everytime.

I actually think the audience would love it if she talked to them.. That would be a huge interaction between them TBH, it wouldn't take away from the show at all but at the end of the day they're just opinions

In the times where she does stop to talk, it would be nice if they didn't start playing the next song while she is still talking, that's what makes it rushed. I'm not the type of fan that enjoys when the artist takes 20 minutes to ramble between songs, granted I could hear Britney talk all night but she's my favorite, if I was a casual fan I would get bored. That's how I feel when I see Katy or Gaga do it, it's like ok I'm totally not in the zone anymore. But really Britney only speaks like 3 or 4 times during the show, making it last 3 to 5 minutes is not going to annoy anyone, even if they are casual. Basically if it was at her own pace and not awkward or felt like it was on purpose and she just chatted and pointed people in the audience that would be amazing and not jeopardize the pacing of the show.

Ok y'all are kind of doing the most .. He's not saying for her to ramble on for 20 minutes, he's just saying that people used to introduce their music before singing performing, no where is he saying for her to ramble on. Britney's show very much is rushed if u watch the full footage that a fan posted and Britney only talks 3 times out of the whole show & lacks fan interaction. She doesn't talk with her fans, & when they are holding their hands out for her to touch them or even telling them hi she ignores them

I wasn't arguing with you, I don't feel she needs to introduce all the songs and I definitely don't want her to follow other Pop artists and take forever but if she could take a few extra minutes when she does talk for audience interactions, it would make all the difference. And like I stated at the beginning, if they didn't start playing the next song while she's trying to talk, it would help. I'm basically agreeing with you

Interesting discussion. It would be nice if Britney introduced some of the songs but let's be real...Britney is Britney, she'll never ramble on like Gaga or Madonna do (annoyingly). Britney is all about keeping the energy really high, I think it works for her and I don't think it feels rushed....when you are there it just feels really high energy which I think is the goal of it. So in that, they are successful.

I wasn't saying that u were arguing, I was just pointing it out about what Lionel's indication was. Some people here are acting as if he's dragging her of some sort when it's clearly not the case.

Agreed, I feel like he was respectful, and just pointing out that different artist do different things and it's ok. You do what works for you and it works for her.

This this this....The vegas show is great for the performance aspect, she's killing it. But the show itself lacks substance. the OHT we went through a series of "zones" in the hotel. It was so cool. Circus covered all diff parts of the circus and its segue's (vids & performance intros) ere awesome. But its like POM starts out soo cool with the little girl as Britney and her going through her house dancing and it embodies the iconic performances then thats it lol everything's sorta random but hey

i don't feel like she needs to introduce every song but I do feel it would be nice for her to talk to the audience a bit more. Like in the early tours she would talk to us before "slowing things down" with a ballad
