They're claiming Beyonce has set a new record with 6 albums in a row hitting #1. Britney would have already achieved this if they hadn't (conveniently) changed the rules in 2007 and denied Blackout that #1. In fact Brit would have 7 in a row by now as her last major release Femme Fatale back in 2011 also landed at #1 :pieceofwhat:

This Britney award better be pretty damn spectacular to make up for their shady as fuck practises tbqfh :4music:

Actually no Blackout would've been her 5th straight album. She broke that record with Beyoncé.

I never worded it properly lol I meant Brit would have set the record if they hadn't changed the rules in 2007. In fact she would have had 7 in a row :)

Yes and then Britney had Circus as the sixth album, then Femme fatale as seventh

But it would have been way worse if Britney had 7 straight 1# albums and then BJ debuting at 4#

What was BJ? She's had no albums since FF sis :frenchy: and at least she would have the record.

I'm kinda glad Britney's chart record isn't 100% flaw free. She needs room to be able to flop every once in a while.  :flop:

Like some of Britney's most iconic songs (Slave, Lucky, MATM) only barely hit top 30 but today are more iconic than any of the songs that were top 5 at the time  :ohriiight:

Plus practically everyone (Critics and GP) agrees Blackout was an absolutely iconic album. A week at number 1 wouldn't have changed that.

Honestly idgaf  :awkwarddd: No one really cares about those records. And tbh, The Eagles album DID sell more than Blackout... so yes, there was a rule-change, but it was to serve a purpose of ensuring that the album which actually sold more copies hit #1 rather than being held off because of a technicality.

Frankly, Britney Army would have worked 5x as hard to ensure Britney Jean debuted at #1.
We wouldn't have let the record get fucked with....even if BJ was handled the same way it was.

That's not what happened though - Wasn't it something like, Wal-mart reported the wrong numbers, which gave The Eagles the #1, but then it came out, that they didn't end up selling as much as Wal-Mart had said (It was a wal-mart exclusive at the time)....thus meaning, Britney should have been #1.

No :zoomzoom: Where did that even come from?

The rule was that Billboard didn't allow store-only exclusives to chart (ie. albums that were sold strictly through ONE retailer.) It became apparent that the album was going to move more copies than any other album that week, so Billboard changed the rule before the end of the tracking week. Wal-Mart never inflated the sales and the album sold more than Blackout did in its fist week and in the long run.

Oh okay. Sorry, my bad. I didn't remember it exactly. ahah. I guess that's fair...but damn. Fuck The Eagles.
