Just curious about this demo - I'm assuming it was recorded in 1998? I'm just now discovering it (thanks to you guys!). Was this when she was still finding what kind of sound/direction to go in? She doesn't have that classic 'Britney' voice like she did after working with Eric Foster White. Did Full Force pitch this to her as a possible duet or was it arranged by JIVE? I'm kind of obsessed with her sassy 90s/R&B vocal delivery.

1998 demo recorded with full force before Britney did BOMT. Earrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrly demo.

Not sure about the backstory. But I believe it was just a demo recorded to be sent around to record labels.

It's such a good song. One of my favorites and I wish it was on the BOMT album. Her voice is so pretty on it.

OMG Your M&G pic is amazing! Congrats!!

Yes her voice is just gorgeous on the track. I can't get enough of it. I can see why the opted to go for something like 'I Will Still Love You' instead because it's more fitting for the album's sound/tone. I would die if a real HQ demo/master leaked. Those vocals <3

One of her best previously unreleased. :slay:

Full Force talked about this song and working with Britney in a TVOne doc about their life and success.  They worked with The Backstreet Boys & *NSYNC so JIVE wanted them to work with Britney, because they bring the best out of artists vocally.  But "Luv The Hurt Away" was "too R&B" and not the directon they wanted for Britney.  They praised her vocal abilities, consider it her best vocal performance she's ever given, and added "she can really sing."

I tried to find the special, it's not on YouTube and the only one that I did find was on Vimeo -- sans the Britney segment.  :surewhatever:

I don't know the whole backstory, but I think it was one of the first songs she ever recorded pre-BOMT, probably while she was still trying to figure out what direction she was going in. She was originally going to make more Sheryl Crow/adult contemporary-type music before she went pop and maybe this song was one of the ones recorded during that phase. She could also have been thinking of going R&B too as it was quite popular in the 90s.
