Well, every single pop culture product is a reinterpretation of already existing clichés, like love, heartbreak, fame, death, sex, etc. Western cultures have been copying basic patterns from the Greeks and the Romans for centuries, it's nothing new, it's just the way the world has evolved, so I don't see the problem with that.
