MakeMySugarFall Posted July 14, 2016 #1 Report Posted July 14, 2016 Posting something none-Make Me (Ooh)-related is probably sacrilegious right now, but I still thought I'd share: Britney Spears' 'Toxic' Gets a Retro Redo in Melinda Doolittle & Postmodern Jukebox Cover American Idol season 6 alum Melinda Doolittle is making her Postmodern Jukebox debut with a throwback rendition of “Toxic” by Britney Spears. Postmodern Jukebox leader Scott Bradlee said he first became a fan of Doolittle’s when he heard her sing a standard on the Fox competition show. “I remember hearing Melinda sing 'My Funny Valentine' during season 6 of American Idol years ago and being awestruck at the power, nuance, and polish of her voice; indeed, she was later regarded as one of the best Idol contestants of all time," he wrote on the group's website. To suit her voice, Bradlee slowed down the arrangement to give it a 1930s torch-song feel. “In arranging a song for her, I wanted to be sure to showcase all this and more -- and, indeed, she raised the bar for PMJ vocals in this video,” he said. PMJ is celebrating the release of their new record, Squad Goals, just released on iTunes this week. The record includes collaborations with fellow Idol alumni Haley Reinhart and Brielle Von Hugel.
