Promo (...Or Lack of)

Okay kids, let me interrupt your enjoyment of the new single for a moment. 

 

I'm afraid Team Britney isn't going to do heavy promo (again) but I have no doubt that Glory will go #1. 

 

"Make Me..." had very little promo, and considering that, I think it did quite well. And, at least on iTunes, it's still doing fairly well.

Considering the brilliant move to release a new track from Glory every week until release date, I didn't think the P-O singles would do as well as they are.

"Private Show" actually had more promo than MMO, because of the perfume... technically. Anyway, it did well for the lack of promo (after all, it's a PROMO single).

 

"Clumsy" would be a guaranteed hit if Team Britney got their shit together. 

Seriously -- I think "Clumsy" could be the next "Toxic" if it had enough promo. I don't know if it could reach #1, but I think it could chart the Top 10.

 

For Femme Fatale, a lot of promo went into the singles and HIAM, TTWE & IWG all did well.

I would argue FF did well too and the tour was obviously a success, even a DVD was made.

It makes me wonder why they wouldn't want to put in the promo for Glory's singles if they know they will do well.....

For Britney Jean, no promo was put in and it debuted at #3.

Sure, it just passed a million copies, but... no promo + a generic sound = 1 million units?

 

 

This is why I have no doubt Glory will at least debut at #1 with the promo Team Britney is doing -- and that makes me sleep well. 

(To be fair, I haven't let Team Britney do their thing yet. Maybe the next non-promo single or when Glory is released they'll do major promo like Circus/FF.)

I hope she does much more than that. It's a good start but she needs to do performances, interviews, etc. If she actually does the VMAs this year I would say Team Britney is serious about this CD.

In terms of just being a sonic risk I'd say its the closest thing we got to a "Toxic" level off-the-wall soundclip since anything on "Blackout"

In terms of just being a sonic risk I'd say its the closest thing we got to a "Toxic" level off-the-wall soundclip since anything on "Blackout"

I believe it will help but imo interviews will help a lot too i.e. Ellen etc. (In fact that's basically the ONLY thing she did for Britney Jean.)

I hope she does do that - but I think if she did what she did on Kimmel and a few other interviews the week before or the week of release, it would be better off. People seemed to enjoy what she did on Kimmel, though - so that's good - but there was almost zero talking about her new record. They didn't even mention the song name used.

yes more interviews would be great and maybe another live performance (next to the vmas) would be great. i dont know why her team doesnt promote more. not sure if britney doesnt want to, or if there is anyone holding her back. i dont get it tbh

No that's what I was talking about - the waking up video - at the end, Jimmy briefly talked about the album name, but nothing about the single that was played... a lot of comments on YouTube saying "What was the song?"

 

I never understood it either - it started happening around the Femme Fatale era, but I was seriously disappointed when Britney did nothing for Britney Jean...... Pretty Girls had ONE performance. At least her team is taking this album more seriously, but still less than before.

I think they will do promo. If she does the VMAs then I have no doubt Team Brit is serious. Literally all they have to say is "Britney Sp-" and she's got the VMAs spot

Y'all need to stop comparing Clumsy to Toxic. Clumsy is ok but it's FAR from the masterpiece that is Toxic.

But other than that i actually think we'll have decent promo this time (obviously nothing like her prime but still).

I disagree - I think Clumsy is really fantastic. But aside from that, I think we'll have decent promo as well. More than Britney Jean/Pretty Girls by far, but I hope we'll at least be at the level of Femme Fatale or more.

 

Team Britney has to understand a hit like "3" won't happen again. You need promo to get to #1.

I think it will be FF level (and with more enthusiasm from Britney thank God). The fact that she cancelled 2 shows, imo she (her label) wouldn't cancel what brings them money just for some useless 5minutes interviews or whatever, and then september 10 she has a break so hopefully she will do more, we already know she has iHeart festival planned anyway so that's good. I hope we will have a documentary tho (about the making of Glory of course, i don't give a fuck about Vegas so i don't want a IABJ 2.0).
