Britney was and kinda still is considered one of her worst before bj. Both of them also undersold at the time they were released.

The shade towards Britney on this thread though, it's a perfect album from start to finish and y'all will deal :awkwarddd:

Personally Britney is one of my favorite albums its has so many bops (except anticipating :britdrown:) i just dont see why it was seen a such a bad album by the majority of the fanbase.

I know, like, to me the whole album is like a definition of what pop music sounded like in the early 2000's, it's like an encyclopedia of music :aintevenmad:

How can people say that the album that contains Slave, Overprotected, Lonely, Cinderella and Before The Goodbye is a bad album? It's beyond me :crying1:

Lets not forget I Run Away, When I Found You, and What Its Like To Be Me :fyea: Pop Perfection really and it gave us the amazing DWAD Tour :crying1:

No shade, all facts. Critics weren't particularly kind to that album. I never said it was a bad album, but that a lot of people considered it her worst until BJ. I don't mind the album, but it's definitely not anywhere near my favorite.

And I love Anticipating and BNG, I don't get why so many hate those songs!

the worst until BJ? :grumpy:

Britney is one of my top 5 albums. I gave us Overprotected, Slave, Lonely, What It's like To Be Me, Before The Goodbye, When I Found You, I Run Away, Anticipating, Cinderella, That's Where You Take Me, etc. But i see why critics don't like it since it was much more different than her previous 2

Critics were definitely not kind to that album. I remember when Slave 4 U dropped - it was called her worst lead (until Me Against The Music) and I loved that song from day one. Then the album was considered weak relative to the first two, which I didn't agree with. In hindsight, I get it now, too - but it does have a lot of bangers on it imo.

ETA: Just check metacritic to see what critics thought of that album ... worst rated until BJ.

Still one of my favorite music videos ever. Not just of hers, but any artist. It's so freaking hot. And of course the performance - iconic.
