I'm just wondering based on and interview she did recently (can't remember which), where she said that her management thought Make Me would set the tone as a lead single.

Also on Apple Music, after she performed the song she said "Glad that's over"

It makes me think that maybe she had another song in mind. I think "Do You Wanna Come Over" but who knows.

What do you think?

Well, I think it's obvious that she at least likes the song because a lot of her unreleased stuff, which is the music she REALLY likes to do, has the same vibe and I would even put in in the same category as Breathe On Me and Touch Of My Hand, which are some of her favourites aswell. But I don't know ehether she thought it should be the lead single or not, I'm sure the label and her management were pushing for it because it's very radio friendly and it's true that it sets the tone for the rest of the album, but maybe you're right and she wanted something more upbeat like Come Over. Who knows :aintevenmad:

She said glad that's over because it was hot and she wanted to tie her hair up.

About Make me i don't know, but i'm glad come over isn't a single, that song isn't single material to begin with, especially not for a lead single. MM was fine imo, not the strongest song of the album but that's better considering they let it die when it was released and with the video mess that happened, it would have been a waste to release a song that has more potential.

what do you think would have been a better lead single? I do like DYWCO but not as a lead at all, not strong enough

I don't get the problem with DYWCO. It's catchy as fuck! The song actually has a positive message to of respecting sexual boundaries and just wanting to be in a lover's company and being supportive of your partner without the promise of sex which is hella underheard in today's music. She sounds great and I think it would do well on the radio, especially on dance music stations if they give it a remix, not that it needs it. It's got elements that are more memorable than MM as well. I mean all the songs on the album are great and this is definitely her best effort in some time, it feels a little unfair to negatively critique any of the songs, but this one seems ripe for success in my opinion. If they make it single two I would understand it.

The only other song that would have worked as a lead in my opinion is Slumber Party. Its not my fav but it sets the mood of the album the same as MM. I think she's fine with MM as the lead but I think she's probably tired of not doing something else from the album aside from DYWCO.

I think Better would have been a good lead, but I'm fine with Make Me. I think she likes it, but she was unsure about the lead single and her nanagement helped her choose

I got the impression that Larry helped her confidence in make me being the single, not that he convinced her it should be. And it was obvious she was "glad that's over" because of all that smoke. I definitely think she wanted it to be the lead single. I think it's also obvious she likes dywco, since she's performing it as well - or maybe she's doing that for her boys since she said it was Preston's favorite.

As i said MM is was a good choice considering the way it was treated. I don't see  any other songs great enough but not too good either that could have been a lead. The 2nd single needs to be the strongest tho imo Slumber Party is the best choice and it needs to most promotion it can get.

I think that Love Me Down or Better would have been great lead singles (but Better sound a little bit like Lean On, so maybe not so good, the GP would think that's a rip off).

I don't know if DYWCO is a lead single material, but I definitely want this as a second or third single :likethat:

To me, Make Me... sounds more like a 3rd of 4th single

I just don't understand how some of you would expect success with that song.  It may have been good years ago but not now, especially on radio it won't work, that kind of pop song is dead right now. Plus i don't think  it's catchy, it's just noisy, there is no melody , the chorus is awful and too gay-ish , immature/childish , i mean the fact that her son loves it just says it all. It's good for fans who like these kind of songs but that's it, not for GP, not as a single. She has done that gay-ish/childish register with PG, see how it worked. Plus, it was released as a promo single, she's performing it already, there is no response to that song, it's simply evident it wouldn't be a good choice imo.

MM was a good choice imo. No other song on the album is fit for a lead, MM is catchy, her voice sounds great on it and it fits in with the trend of songs today. I still listen to it regularly and still love it. I genuinely think that if there was an iconic video for it, the song would've smashed. :crying1:

I bet if something like better or DYWCO was the lead single y'all would be saying that it should've been MM :hair:

I don't think she chose MM as lead single. She never reseased as lead single a mid-tempo like this where she can't  not even make a little break dance. It's an awful song to perform...slow moves = boring show. It has been a bad choice, even more for her VMA return. She had to add a piece of others song (Me MYself And I) to be able to make some lively dancing there... It's a shame for such an awaited come back.

It would be infinitely better any other song to make a great perform, with a decent choreography.  Britney, who is admired mora as a dancer/performer than a singer (lipsync...) with a lead single in wich she can't really dance...that was a wrong idea.

hmm please, hello ?

her actual basic choreos have nothing to do with the song, it's britney herself who doesn't want to put effort in it, that's all. She rehearsed a great choreo with charm la donna, she scrapped it, not the song's fault. Britney wants basic boring armographies. Even DYWCO for example is more up beat and it's worse, it doesn't even have a choreo so there you go. Having a different lead wouldn't have meant a better choreo. MM actually was a song that could have had an amazing choreo because it's not too fast but also not too slow, the chorus is just perfect for big and fluid moves like she used to do, you can do a lot on these kind of songs. Unfortunately SHE decided to stick with the usual boring armography.

I think a song like Make Me would have been a great 3rd single for Femme Fatale, following 2 uptempo songs.  I can sort of see why it was chosen as the lead but it's not a #1 song that will drive an entire album.  I really like the song but mid-tempo was very risky for an artist like Britney.  Better would've been a safer choice, not saying it's the best song on the album but more in line with what the GP would expect.
