TBH I see it two different ways depending on what's going on. The first I see it as her and her friends running around stage being cute, the second I see it as her dancers respecting that Britney is the one in charge on stage and they're offering their assistance in anyway she needs.

I always thought that it was to create a divaish effect, if that makes sense, like queens always walk with a man holding their hand, but they're constantly carrying her arround and it feels like she never knows where to stand, which is weird because they rehearse and she's been doing the same show for years, so I don't know what to think

Most of the people in this thread are right with both views. They have created this Diva assistance where she just has her dancers embrace her, walk her etc. But in Britney's case because there's no creative direction with staging, she sometimes misses her cues so they guide her to her spots lol

This has only happened in two cases:

 

1. The festivals, since the stage isn't the same they need to guide her cause she forgets, even they forgets sometimes.

 

2. Whit new routines: DYWCO, Make Me or revamped dance rutines.
