Ok, I haven't been here for a long time but woke up to this today - OMFG.  I have to admit, as a fan for the past (almost) 20 years, things have gotten a little stale and there have been recent times when the vocals on her albums (even Glory) were questioned by many to be all hers - let alone just auto-tune - and really, when you go years without ever singing live it's hard not to wonder yourself sometimes - well, no need to wonder anymore.  What we hear on her albums is no doubt, 100% Britney - we get strong vocals and we question them but after hearing this cover song live, the bullshit accusations have been shut down.  Honestly, I doubt they even have to do much to her voice in the studio like many suggest.  Britney, last night, gave us BOMT era vocals - like, "I will be there", "Soda Pop", "Thinkin about you" vocals!  She still has it and i'm really happy to know that!  These are the vocals that gave her a record deal.  There's a lot of pretty faces out there, but Britney has the whole package and this is why she was signed.

You know what's so crazy to me?  The fact that she looked more natural doing this cover song strutting around on stage then she does with her recent choreography - perhaps it's time for a re-invention.  I've been saying it for years now but her brand is in need a re-invention and with Vegas ending it's the perfect time.  Choreography is fine, but she doesn't need to do it for 90 minutes straight.  Back up dancers, lights, special effects are cool and all but it gets old and Britney has the stage presence to move forward without it - at least part of the time - I mean, I know we all want some dancing thrown in but i'd pay GOOD money to see her do this stuff - I won't keep paying to see POM type dancing for 90 minutes.  A good mix would be awesome.

It's days like these when i'm extra proud to be a fan.

I said in the past that i would never go to a show where the artist just sings because i only care about the show.

that being said i feel like seeing a Britney show is no longer my cup of tea.

HOWEVER, i would pay to go see her singing songs live and i guess its just because her voice is very different and its such an unusual treat to hear her sing that you start to wonder what other songs would sound like if they were live.... Clearly nothing like the final studio versions.

with other artists you get a live version that sounds like the record so i guess thats why itll be pretty cool to go see her live.

her voice is not pop.... Maybe theres still hope for a rock album

Sorry to ruin the party, but I get the impression that even though she did sing live, unless you're fan, it's nothing to write home about. I read a lot of comments online and people kept going over technical stuff I don't understand arguing that she can't hit the right notes or that her voice is not strong enough.

I personally enjoyed it because I'm a fan, but I wonder how good it actually was. Would a non fan be impressed? I may show it to some friends and see.

The internet is full of "experts" who actually know nothing. Haters are going to hate, no matter what.

My friend, who is a singer and vocal coach, is always critical of Britney lip syncing and her response to the video was "I'm convinced now Britney can still actually sing, but she's just lazy."

I'm also sure that people are just turned off by the sound of her voice and that's usually confused with not being able to sing. We all know Britney's voice is nasally and it's gotten thinner over the years, it's not to everyone's taste... but that doesn't mean she's not hitting the right notes.

Sadly u are right, people will hate no matter what, I mean Britney could like find a cure for cancer and there will still be people looking for something to hate on her for, at the end of the day, I say the only opinions that should really matter is fans and I think we were all happy with that performance!!

I disagree. I think she was genuinely good.

If you go back and see one of her everytime performances during the "in the zone" era, she was struggling to sound properly. BUT THIS was so unforced and relaxed. I'm not sure if she missed a note or two but I could just sit back, relax and enjoy her singing. She was good!!! ;)
