wasn't jamie an alcoholic? i remember something about this being published back then, but i'm not sure if it's true. the amount of power a man like this has over his daughter doesn't make sense

It shouldn't surprise anyone. Her father has always been a nightmare with good intentions but lacking the proper tools and ability to deliver them in a way that isn't hurtful to his family.
