Do you think Gimme More was the last single released that was the most daring or edgiest?

I feel like Womanizer, Hold It Against Me, and Work B are all singles that still play it safe and we're designed for mainstream radio.

What do y'all think? Share! Would you like Britney's next single to be something that doesn't follow the trends?

At this stage in Britney's career, she should be able to do whatever the hell she wants! She's earned the right! If she wanted to release My Baby as a first single, then it should happen damnit!!!! Lol! :)

I think Gimme more and HIAM are her edgiest ....

GM was dark, sensual and just different from anything she had released till that point.

HIAM was different from anything that was released at that time and I think it was a risky single, plus dubstep was not that known on mainstream radio  :yesplz:

I definitely agree with you about GM! While im a big fan of HIAM, it still think it wasn't as adventurous as GM. I do think that Britney and her producers try to do something different with every hit single. I think the lyrics of HIAM are not really that original I guess.

Slave for sure. Just the Slave connotation plus it's sound screams sex. It was edgy and risky for her.

I don't think Gimme More is as Edgy risky as some seem. It's damn good but she already did Urban, dance and sex. And there is a catchy pop vibe underneath the dance pop. I think Toxic, Break the ice, Radar, HIAM and Work bitch all have edge and Risk. I'm not saying more than Gimme more but at the same level. Toxic has a very exotic sound for mainstream radio. HIAM Took dance and Grimed it up with Dubstep. Work Bitch is hard hitting EDM. Even the EDM masters didn't try to push such heavy sound to radio.

I actually think Britney releasing a heartbreaking ballad (with Everytime) is in some ways more risky and it's edgy in it's own way because she's taking blame for her high profile relationships end.

Wow! Good points! Yeah I guess in some way every one of those singles are risky and edgy. I just think some of her singles cater more to mainstream pop music than others.

To me, the most risky and edgy singles were BOMT, IAS4U, IUSA and 3.

Gimme More was innovative, fresh and a trend-setter, but not risky.

:mhm:

Yeah I have to agree with you! BOMT, IAS4U, and 3 touch on more controversial subjects.
