I remember back in the X factor era people were calling for her to have plastic surgery or some sort of work done because she apparently looked old. Now I don't particularly care if she has had work done and don't really see much of a difference in her face, but assuming she has, people still complain about how they miss 'the britney face'.    :notimeforu:

the fanbase (online) is different than the world

online people tend to be snarkier, elitist, more judgmental, quicker to point out criticisms, self-assured, and monitor her every single moment like a hawk...so I take what I hear w a grain of salt. Not all fans are experts on life

There are too many divisions as I see it, fans from different eras, jaded fans, old, young, rich, poor, every single gender & sexual identities you can think of from basic to complex, and people at different stages in their lives...but a huge reason for all the differences is the wide diverse fanbase she has managed, and the divisions in the fanbase speaks to that. The fanbase would operate more effectively if it were more united, which provides people of all differences an opportunity to coexist. I would personally love to see that coexistence work better: where people dont label others and can respectfully debate in a mature way

That's so true!

Unfortunately, I don't think that will ever happen to be completely honest. I mean, as fans, we're all going to have differing opinions. Some of the older fans don't like the way she performs now, and it's like you said, a division between different sorts of fans and I guess that's how it's always going to be. There will always be things that fans are going to disagree on.

this is true, but people can respect each others differences...or at least be willing to learn. I mean at least people can agree to avoid name-calling, labeling...if their point is actually valid then it is completely unecessary to do this

Good point! :queenflopga:

MTE! :xf1:

In December 2013 I began checking exhell and everything was so negative, it was full of trolls, everyone hated Perfume, everyone hated Work Bitch, everyone hated everything and the only thing that was appreciated was Blackout or In The Zone. I'm so glad exhell is over :overitkbye:

I agree and while it would be great for that to happen, it never will with this fan base. But realistically speaking, we're only really talking about a very small percentage of the fan base.

I joined in November but I'd lurked there for a while. But I totally agree, and even now, there's still negative threads on there. I've just gotten sick of certain members on there complaining about everything, so exhale's downfall was the perfect time to leave :reductive:

exactly, I remember the arrogance of exhale thinking it was the entire fanbase. And everytime I mention this it got conveniently ignored.

online communities exist in various languages and sites, and the online fanbase is a small portion of her actual fanbase. Not everyone likes or knows much about forums, and many people in forums are barely active. I actually hated the idea of forums and commenting on the internet, and it took me like 14-15 yrs of being a fan to come around to it, and only because I am taking a break from grad school and have much more time

You're completely right.

I doubt exhale isn't even 5% of her overall fanbase.  And honestly, with the way some 'fans' talk about Britney, forums like exhale can be a bad thing as all they do is criticise and tear Britney apart.

britney will never be able to please anyone, no matter what she does. i'm so glad she doesn't try to please anyone but herself. let the haters live in their negativity while britney is happy and healthy and living HER life

Couldn't have said it better myself. You're completely right!

It's baffling to me how people who have never been in her shoes have the gall to criticize her. She has become one the most famous and recognizable public figures in the world. She did that by working hard her ass off and sacrificing. At this point if she wanted to abandon fame and focus on her family I wouldn't judge her one bit.
