The nominations are for MTV's bottom line - promotion, ratings and $$$$. They always use her fanbase to garner attention, yet they don't deliver. Billboard Awards did the same thing several weeks ago. They'd only nominate it if she appears. Even so, her most iconic songs didn't win. They gave her awards when they were simultaneously filming a documentary with her. I don't want to be mean or negative - this is just coming from someone who worked there. Plus, they promoted and actively appear at shows when possible. There's a "scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" way about MTV and many shows. 2

When you compare "Work Bitch" to some of her peers it holds up very well. It's sexy without being over the top, features some of her best dancing in awhile, and there's oodles of charisma. However Katy Perry will be nom'd several times for her shitty ass videos for "Dark Horse" and "Birthday." (I enjoyed the songs but hated the videos.) A VMA don't mean shit but still.
