s&s had the beats commercial and the premiere on x factor, plus will i am performed it. its also much more radio friendly; work bitch obviously had to be edited for radio and its radio edit is not nearly as good as the original

"Scream & Shout" really benefited from that Beats commercial, the song stabilized in the top 3 on iTunes for months because of that I think.  Talk about a song that could have just crashed and burned, but instead became a smash.

You took the words right out of my mouth! I remember when Scream & Shout reach number 12 on the Hot 100, I thought it was just going to fall after that. Boy was I wrong. People really underestimate the power of using a song in a commercial. Gaga's song Applause was also used in a car commercial and that helped it out tremendously too.

The Xfactor USA was played all over the world and the S&S video debuted there. It had the "Ohh, wee ohh, wee oh wee oh" like chant that had been pushing songs to success.

Work Bitch is a harder hitting EDM record and even EDM artist weren't trying to push that edge to pop radio.

Britney kept saying the song was for her gay fans when she should have push a more universal message.

Britney's fans requested S&S more so than they did WB. WB came out as the meltdown on Exhale rose.

Work Bitch will be an important song though. Watch and see. People already associate the term with Britney now.

I would replace Big Fat Bass, but I love Scream & Shout and It Should Be Easy :) (but I would also replace Body Ache and Passenger tbh :yaknow:)

Passenger is 99% Brit (and 1% Sia)

I really don't think the X-factor première or beats commercial had anything to do with it. Here in Belgium it spent 8 weeks or so at #1 and nobody watches that.

There's only one explanation and that's because it was extremely catchy. Generic, sure, but very addictive. And the "Ooh wee oh" part was easy to sing along to.

Radio played it, people started to buy it, that created more radio play and that's how a song becomes a smasher.
