Why did Scream n Shout smash, while Work Bitch didn't?

Scream and Shout music video premiered on the X Factor. A show that was getting between 4-6 million people each episode..the next night I remember Mario Lopez saying it hit #1 on iTunes. 

 

Worldwide- Will.i.am as solo artist is pretty popular so radio stations probably went along and played it heaps? I don't know

Scream n Shout is extremely catchy, wasn't universally hated by the Army (like ISBE) and actually had a pop chorus, which Work Bitch doesn't really have (Body Ache is the only song on BJ that has a catchy pop chorus, but the prod is ugly as fuck). The "It's Britney, bitch" was everything, too.

"Work Bitch" sounds too much like a club ready remix then an actual song.  I love it and think it's one of the best songs from the Britney Jean Vegasney era.  Had there been an actual performance for the song, it would have done a lot better, but as it stands it's already become one of her signature songs.

"Scream & Shout" really benefited from that Beats commercial, the song stabilized in the top 3 on iTunes for months because of that I think.  Talk about a song that could have just crashed and burned, but instead became a smash.

scream and shout was very popular in germany because of the "britney bitch". don´t know why, but the song came from nowhere and went #1. 

but now work bitch is selling better than applause in u.s.
