whenever Britney albums, in particular, come out...the critics shit all over it

then after a 5 or 10 yr anniversary of the album, they come back and praise it

that is the Britney effect...she is the last person a critic wants to admit to liking, because they try to appeal to high brow coffe-shop intellectualism and appear to be indie, deep, eccentric, and experts on music

When her songs receive praise, the praise is swept under the rug...

Britney is too much of a household name, and her beginnings in the MMC and teen pop, along w her scandalous life as a celebrity, make some people feel uneasy about praising her. One thing I have noticed is in my everyday life people who make shady comments about Britney one day will agree w me another day when I praise her. Not all people in my life immediately know I stan for Britney, cuz I am a rock dude and they assume it doesnt fit my image. So when I hear Britney shade one day, I make sure I bring it up in the future or debate it right there...and people's minds change on a whim
