I really think so. Look at nicki, mariah and britney. Their sales dropped After being on a talent show. I really think the Age of talent shows has ended. Every artist who judges it loses some audience

I don't think it ruined Britney's credibility. Actually I usually forget she was even on The X Factor. It's just something she did to try out and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I mean Shakira was on The Voice and look at Can't Remember to Forget You and how it performed.

no, i don't think so. they're two completely different and separate things. britney jean's sales have nothing to do with x factor, and everything to do with the lack of promotion the album received

well I'm not saying it's the main factor. But I do think talent shows dull a artist down unless they crazy or something.

The thing is though if britney Jean had been released during her time on X factor or even if she came back as "past judge Britney Spears is here to perform her new single" Britney jeans sales could have been better. X factor didn't hurt or help her musically speaking. I do however agree that talent shows are a dying breed

I think The X-Factor actually helped Scream & Shout because people were interested in what Britney was up to. So no, it doesn't hurt, and especially in Britney's case where she refuses to promote... it can be quite beneficial.
