When will OTHER artists debut in the Top 5 of Billboard with an album of 10 songs for a price of $14.00? She's getting that MONEY from those sales! And considering the physical copy is cheaply manufactured, I doubt Britney thinks she "failed" with her album.

Do you think album prices should be incorporated into album success for the artist? Discuss

It flopped and don't sugarcoat it. I do think it would have had better sales if RCA gave Britney Jean some more fuel because it sold mainly pulled by Work Bitch. Perfume never did anything. Once Work Bitch died, the album stopped selling. If we had a successful second single, or perhaps even a third single, Britney Jean would have sold more and maybe even reached one million worldwide.

I love Britney Jean. I listen to it the most. (I'm serious). Ppl hate it because it flopped sales wise and thats it. If it debuted at number 1 ppl would love it.

Hmm no, stop with this. People just have different taste. How is that complicated to understand? The uptempos are a mess imo. The only good songs are dont cry, hold on tight maybe BMS and alien, that's it. I hate EDM and success or not, it wouldn't have change the fact that more than half of the album is bad to me.

Britney Jean did ok , which by britney standards = flop.

But I'm pretty sure she did better than Mariah and JLos latest efforts. And didn't Robin Thicke sell like 43 copies of his new album in Australia?? :laughinatu:

Britney has had 7 consecutive super successful albums. BJ is her first to not have major success and I'm ok with that. :'(

(First and foremost, I'm not a fucking troll. I just have an unpopular opinion. :hahano: )

Even if BJ had been number 1, I still wouldn't have loved it. I don't spend money on music I know I won't play on repeat. And compared to other artists, BJ didn't flop. So I'm not too guilty about not buying it, but still just a little bit. :(

Exactly this!

Nope, you are wrong. BJ is just her weakest album (still it's "ok" album, but...) + Blackout didn't debut at nr 1 and everybody loves it so...

Blackout didn't debut at number one because of a last minute rule change. It would have and that's part of it's charm and why people love it so much. Coupled with the fact that everyone loves "2007ney"

Taste in music doesn't have much to do with how popular something is on the personal level. I couldn't care less if my favorite artists are making number one albums or not. As a pop album, BJ was not as strong or cohesive as Blackout. There's a reason Blackout got rave reviews and BJ did not. Of course, there may be some people shallow enough to only like an album because it's a big hit. Just as there are people who discredit Blackout despite it's many many strengths.

While I completely agree that taste SHOULDNT be based on how popular something is, in my mind there's no doubt if Britney Jean charted higher (not even number 1, even if it was 2) more people would love the album.

Blackout didn't get rave reviews until it changed music and other artist took a similar direction. Fans weren't really feeling that album either until critics started to praise it . There is a strong love for 2007ney though because she got a lot of press and Everybody was talking about her.

Britney Jean isn't as good a album as Blackout but it's still a good record. The fans didn't get want they want though and that is the way it is sometimes. I think they won't be happy until they get that Urban album. I mean look at how they treated FF :xf11:

Though unless Britney does something that gets her big sales or major press the fans will find a way to attack it. They claim Work Bitch isn't quality after all  :zoomzoom: which is their prerogative but I think it's one of the best songs Britney has ever done. I do think eventually the online fans will be removed from the events that surrounded Work Bitch and will learn to see that it's a great song. Time will tell.
