It's laughable to even compare ANY of these new stars to Britney regarding talent or anything else at all. Britney was born to be on stage. The closest, prominent rise to fame I have seen since Britney's in 1998 was Justin Bieber's tbh and not even that touched hers. It's crazy.

People use the excuse that no one buys albums nowadays but I literally buy everything off of iTunes. I downloaded Justin Timberlake's first album in 2012 and got a letter from the government so I haven't done it again. 

 

I got so mad when I read that person's comment on the article that said that Britney was the queen in an age of "dead media" so it didn't really matter -- the fact that the internet wasn't around only made it harder for her imo. But it was a better time to be a stan in certain ways. I didn't even connect with other Britney fans via internet until 2003.

 

The pop stars were better back then. Or maybe we were just really, really lucky with Britney and Christina. (Mostly Brit)

Napster was huge and unregulated, there's no telling how many Britney albums were downloaded and burned to cd

or copied from cd to cassette as we did back then

 

higher speed internet was coming out then, along w p2p filesharing...plus artists nowadays get streaming counting towards their sales and promotion on social media and throughout the internet is insidious...you could get an ad for an album at your fingertips

 

to say her fame doesn't matter because of "dead media" is just stupid on so many levels...w less media it becomes harder to become such a sensation, she was extremely driven and the rest is history
