I think she was solidified as a pop leader since her previous albums, Blackout was just a different kind of sound for her, just like Femme Fatale.

For me OIDIA is the best one :mahhaw:

FF made Rolling Stone magazine coin Britney "Pop music's stealth avant-gardist." How awesome is that?

It's probably because those are the only albums they've heard hit singles from. I was little then, but I didn't even hear one Blackout single on the radio except Piece of Me. So that's probably why and they may have been staying away from anything Britney because of her meltdown. Plus Circus had a great comeback with good hits and then Femme Fatale had large hits like Hold It Against Me, Till the World Ends, I Wanna Go, and a little bit of Criminal and they were played all the time. And their happy and up beat unlike Blackout which was dark and urban like, which most people didn't like. :)

Also I'm gonna be honest (don't hate me), but I prefer Femme Fatale over all her albums. Blackout is like my 3rd favorite album.

2. BJ

3. BO

From my own research, I'd say that they prefer Britney (the album and era) over everything else. Such a shame though because Blackout is her magnum opus.

Ikr. They smashed with the public because Britney was back with her light pop feel :) I love both albums, too. They always put me in a good mood!!

Circus is especially loved by the GP, and is my favorite :) however the fanbase hates it lol :(

honestly I think it's cool you like FF. It's my 2nd fave album :) I think over time the fanbase is learning to love it more. :D

What's your fave from FF?

If they think so, it's because it's true. I think even Britney Jean is better than Blackout :yaknow: It's not that it's a bad album, it's good, it's just that it is the least Britney-ish. And I know she produced it and stuff, and you may say because of that it is "more personal" (which I really disagree) but it's just so different to what Britney Spears, the brand, the artist, really is. It's fine that she experimented with different sounds for that record, but it's something that I wish she never repeats again. It's admirable that she was able to release an album even during her worst time, but I don't know, there's something about it that will always prevent me from loving it.

And the GP, well, I think it's kinda the same reason, they expect Britney Spears to sing pop, and Blackout has a different kind of vibe, even if it's still considered a pop album, just because it's Britney.

I think liking an album like Blackout vs BJ comes down to personal taste. Most of the music I listen to sounds nothing like BJ, but albums like BO, ITZ, and (kinda) Circus fit right in. And I actually think Britney Jean is the least Britney-ish. Britney is great with urban sounds just as much as pure pop. To me, BJ didn't sound like either. It sounded like (to me) very Will.I.Am and not so much Britney (except for the lyrics).

And just going off album sales, Blackout is more popular. Gimme More vs Work Bitch. Gimme More sounds like urban Britney with a darker edge, a nice transition from the ITZ (which has urban, grimy songs like Early Mornin'. Did that not sound un-Britney-ish too?). Work Bitch sounds like a random song you hear on an electronica radio station. I don't think EDM is Britney's best style. FF was enough and then she should have stuck with songs like Alien and Hold on Tight for BJ, then it would sound more cohesive as an album.

Not to discredit you opinions :) Just stating my very different ones.

It's because, for the most part, Radio wants Britney the pop artist and radio is how people hear Britney. If a song isn't on the radio than most people will never hear it to judge it. I mean for Britney who doesn't do non tour/Residency performances.

BTW FF is actually a darker album than circus. Not the themes but the sonic make up of the album. I believe they wanted a new take at BO's electric pop but without the dark mood. I truly believe that Britney doesn't want to sing songs that remind her of 2007. Which is where I think BJ stunted a bit. The writers and producers want that and then Britney is all no no no.

It's kinda hard to chose. I love Till the World Ends, but after that I can't choose a second favorite cuz I love the others equally!!! What's yours? :D

Like the GP knows how iconic Blackout is...

I don't think you know how iconic it is NOT. :queenflopga:

The definition of iconic is "something or someone widely recognizable and well-established". Britney is iconic. 2007ney is iconic. Gimme More is iconic. It's Britney, Bitch is iconic.

If the GP barely remembers Blackout, sorry to break it to you, but it's not iconic. Actually I'm not sorry to break it to you. I'm loving this. :queenflopga:

No problem, I understand everybody has different opinions. :mhm:

And well, I agree EDM is not Britney's style, but at least Britney Jean has other songs like Perfume, Hold on Tight, Passenger, Alien, even Tik Tik Boom, and as whole, I think the album is very Britney-ish because I consider what makes an album, a Britney album is the diversity in the songs. Even though I wouldn't want to hear a Work Bitch 2.0, I think is fine and it's very different from the EDM on Femme Fatale which was very dubstep. I know urban songs suit Britney very well, but I wouldn't want to have another album full of urban songs, or EDM songs, or ballad songs, again, I like diversity, and that's why I like OIDIA, or Circus, or Britney, or Britney Jean.

For me, it's ok that Britney always wants to work with new people, but I think she shouldn't have left Max Martin. He is the god behind the pop music, and he's capable of making different kind of songs, with different kind of sounds without staying away from the pop, catchy songs that Britney Spears should sing. It seems like Katy Perry is the only one that won't let him go away, and she will keep having hit after hit with him by her side. But that's another story.

Anyway, albums like Blackout, FF, even BOMT fall under that category where you can love them, or hate them, because it's like the same kind of sound through the whole record. With Britney Jean, I know most of the fans dislike it, besides the diversity, because none of those sounds was what they were expecting (a Blackout 2.0). The problem I see in BJ is that it lacks an edgier sound, something innovative, trend-setting, it's an album that doesn't contribute to the music of this decade anf feels more like an album filled with rejects of her previous albums. And even though, I still prefer it over Blackout. But that's just my opinion. At the end of the day, I think general public completely ignore the existence of both Britney Jean and Blackout, so, yeah, Blackout sold more, but I don't think it was for the right reasons, I think it was more for the scandals where Britney was at the moment.

(And by the way, Early Mornin' is my least favorite song from ITZ :P)
