Not people criticized her for saying she couldn't dance but they criticized her for dancing because that resulted in her lip syncing. The lip syncing and dancing at the same time thing was hugely controversial.

Her dancing was also the reason that people who wanted her to sing live weren't okay with it. Duh and/or hello. There were numerous people who said she shouldn't dance to allow her to stop lip syncing to "prove" that she has a good voice or could sing or something. Oh God no I'm not. Britney now is such an inspiring woman for everything she went through and to watch her be as great as she is even after all the shit she went through makes me love her and appreciate her more than "old" Britney. She could have easily retired after that or she even could have died back in 2007. Don't try to tell me how to feel or how you think you know how I feel that's my biggest pet peeve due to a bad past I had and people constantly trying to tell me how to think and feel and act and it ended badly and I don't need this shit on the internet   thanks. Even if it's just a Britney discussion.

But that can go right back at you. Being bitter about Britney and obsessed with her in the past and not accepting her for who she is now and admitting she's a great performer won't make Beyonce a better person/performer/more influential either
