If I recall I think that it was supposed to be a surprise but we all knew ahead of time but I can't remember how we knew ahead of time... Someone somewhere leaked information though because that was the only reason I watched the Billboards that night was because S&M is my jam plus Britney was alongside Rihanna performing it so I couldn't pass up watching the combination of the two    . It was never officially released that they were performing together though you're right. But a lot of people knew.
