Tell us how you felt when Britney Jean came out?

 

Personally, I was expecting either a really personal album with lots of midtempos and ballads about specific, intimate details about Britney's life. Or another pop masterpiece, like FF, which would've been fine. Or at least an album full of Scream&Shouts, which I kinda liked, but it was my bottom expectation.

 

BJ delivered none of that. Production was basic, nothing was catchy, I didn't see an ounce of personalney in it. It was a nightmare for me.  :zoomzoom:

They could've been personal to her, but it didn't sound like it.  It sounded generic and could've been sung by anyone. The production ruined the feel of it, instead of complementing it.   I do like

when it was released I loved it! <3

a few months later I began to dislike and even hate a few songs like Tik Tik Boom, Body Ache and Passenger... and I'm really bored of a few other songs like Hold On Tight, to be really honest.

BUT there are a few masterpieces (Perfume, Chillin With You and Work Bitch) which I always enjoy listening to! Many other songs like Alien, It Should Be Easy and Now That I Found You could have been much better, but I do like them. I don't care what you all say, but Britney Jean actually made me appreciate will.i.am more :)

BJ wasn't her best album but I still loved it then and now.

 

And the songs did sound personal. Some of them just weren't great songs or they got the production wrong for the song. And there is no true pop song on the album.

 

Imo the Album should have been the following list with 2 or 3 traditional Britney (Pop with a twist) songs instead of Chillin which they got the chorus all wrong for the chill verses and Bodyache which just isn't a good song though it starts off good. TIG does sound like a remix and TTB is probably too hard edge for a decent amount of fans.

I really love Britney Jean!

It's not Britney's best album in my opinion, but it's really not that bad

 

ALL OF THESE!!!  YASSSSSSSSSSSS!!!  :thumbsup:

 

I think we are probably a little too hard on BJ. Was it her best? NO but it isn't all awful actually I like to think of it as an EP album because if you get rid of the filler crap it's got 7 or 8 AMAZING standard issue Britney songs. 

 

The first 7 songs on the CD are AMAZING (minus Robotney on ISBE)!!!!!!!  :wahlykeomg:

 

The rest (except NTIFY) are filler crap that don't sound like Britney songs and should never have been recorded.  :xf11:

 

I think BJ is only disappointing because we are used to getting an album of 15 or more tracks full of songs like the first 7 of BJ.  :nowaygif:

I'm glad WB, Perfume, Alien, & HOT exist for sure, but TTB/ISBE/BA/CWU/TIG are such serious lapses of pop judgment that it brings the whole project down. Was expecting an album of Unusual Yous, HATLMs, and State of Graces in terms of a personal pop overture, but it turned out to be a collection of noncohesive well-intentioned unfinished ideas and dated dance tracks :awkward:

I agree with the first part, but in my opinion TTB, Body Ache, Passenger, BMS and HOT are filler crap, while Chillin With You is a masterpiece <3 It Should Be Easy, Don't Cry and Now That I Found You are great album tracks!

I totally agree with TTB/BA and I understand what you mean with ISBE/TIG, but Chillin With You is cute, creative and catchy! It's one of the album highlights and one of her cutest songs ever for sure! I'm really glad she did that one with Jamie Lynn.

I'll concede this. It's not a particularly good song, but it is both cute and unique. the only song in existence that's Ho Hey by the Lumineers fused with a BSB b-side, an unused Diplo demo, and a part of the flawless :jls: discography

See, that's how I feel about it too. I'm not stupid. I know that Britney can do much better than this. But I still enjoy the album very much.

 

But I don't agree with the rest. I think Don't Cry, Brightest Morning Star and Hold on Tight are amazing. You want "personal" Britney, well, this is it.

yeah and that's exactly why I love it! It is personal, chillin with family and friends is a part of life! :)

I wanted my money back after I pre-ordered it tbh...I couldn't live w/o WB though. And I really love Perfume. The other songs ehhh. :crying2: so much wasted potential on that album. I think what Britney REALLY wanted was a CD full of songs like this

She said she likes Robyn. And this song is great. EDM teas but still pop.
