I wanted my money back after I pre-ordered it tbh...I couldn't live w/o WB though. And I really love Perfume. The other songs ehhh. :crying2: so much wasted potential on that album. I think what Britney REALLY wanted was a CD full of songs like this

She said she likes Robyn. And this song is great. EDM teas but still pop.

Ooooh, Robyn!!! Yes, an album in that style would have been great.

I like the album tbh. Songs like Work Bitch, Don't Cry, Tik Tik Boom, Alien, Perfume and Til Its Gone entered my top 70 Brit songs easily :tbh:

And believe me its really hard to achieve it that fast. :queenflopga:

(Work Bitch is in my top 10 tho  )

Britney Jean definitely could've been better, but it's not like it's the worst album ever. It had some really good highlights, like "Work Bitch," "Alien," "Passenger," and "Now That I Found You." But it also has some of the worst songs of her career, mainly "Til It's Gone" and "Chillin' With You" (awful song). I'm one of those fans who believes that Britney Jean was a personal album. Production-wise the album may not be too good, but lyrically it has some of her most mature songs. She has songs talking about her religion (all the bonus tracks), her break up with Jason ("Til It's Gone" and "Perfume), songs about her kids ("Alien" and "Brightest Morning Star), and "Alien" even deals with her thoughts of fame and it's isolation. And then you just have the fun party/sex songs like "Body Ache" and "Tik Tik Boom," which, let's face it, is the core of what Britney really is.

I honestly think that 85% of those opinions wouldn't be like that if the album hadn't flopped

Exactly. People were acting like Perfume was the song of her career until it flopped.

The album is good. The production, especially on the vocals, is awful, but there are some great songs. It would have been better if the bonus tracks were on the main album and some of the main album tracks were ditched.

My problem with her "personal" songs on the album is that anyone else could've sung it. I guess my expectations when Britney says personal are Everytime, Someday, Let Go, Just Yesterday, etc.

I'm not disappointed I still listen to it. With masterpieces like Don't Cry, Til It's Gone, Work Bitch, Perfume and all of the deluxe songs including the remix I love it. :crying1:

But I'm gonna be honest I don't like TTB, BA, or Passeger like I used to. :mhm:

I still think Perfume is the song of her career tbh :pieceofwhat: well at least one of her best <3

The only thing that ruined it, was the negative fans on exhale, shredding it to pieces, instead of enjoying it..

People just can't appreciate anything, they were negative even before it came out.

Actually, ask yourself, if this was 99 and you didn't have internet, wouldn't you have liked the album, at the first listen?

Nope :4music:

I actually hated it less after a few listens. Still hate it though.

Not really. People were hating it even before the first week sales were revealed.

That's not what I saw, but I didn't go on Exhale at the time, but that's because the "fans" out there were so negative about everything, even before the Britney Jean release.

I must say, the Myah Marie rumors made be suspicious, and I can't appreciate it the same way, just like with Passenger writing credits and Perfume too.. But other than that, I liked it very much

Stupid Myah Marie shit has made a lot of people hate on BJ.

Passenger is the only song on BJ that Britney doesn't have a publishing credit on the album booklet. Every other song Britney has a writing credit on her Britney Spears Music is there. It's the only song that Britney never mentions writing on. She always mentions Katy. With Perfume she mentions herself and Sia. Even Mannequin (which is the only song that the co writer producer has openly said Britney didn't write) has a Britney Spears music credit.

I guess it depends on what measure Britney Jean is taken on, but I feel on top tier pop girl standards, it was awful. :yaknow: It doesn't hold a candle to the other releases that year like Bangerz, Prism, Beyonce and even Artpop.

This tbh.

it's made even worse by the fact that Bangerz, Prism, BEYONCE, and Artpop are (more for the latter three than Bangerz) some of the worst albums in that artist's discog. It just makes BJ look even worse :( I feel like if it was really that personal and it faced such floppage, Britney would've been bothered or upset or even offended. If I saw something that I truly felt was personal and intimate start to tank, I'd swoop in and do everything I could to save it. I didn't see any form of connection between Brit and BJ in terms of long-term emotional investment, and I think it's reflected in the poorly-executed unfinished song ideas (I mean, where the fuck is the bridge for Alien & Perfume? BRITNEY SLAYS SONG BRIDGES! How about a second verse for NTIFY? i mean come on, smh) and dated dance tracks

Not to be overly critical or anything, but at Brit's stature in in the pop culture landscape and where she is in her career now, BJ was pretty underwhelming :yaknow:

I'm not even talking about sales, but quality. You can tell the artists and producers and writers worked hard on these other albums and while some fell flat, I could see the effort. I hate to say this but Legendary Lovers of Katy >>>>> Britney Jean.

And I fuckng agree, Alien lacks a bridge or breakdown to be perfect. Body Ache has this very Britney pop chorus, but the production and beats are basic and ugly. The ballads are okay, I guess, but the production of her vocals are dreadful, and the lyrics are just so meh.

There were so many potential single material for all of Britney's previous albums (especially FF and Blackout), but on this one, I can see only Work Bitch and it's not even that good. WIll could've at least given Britney S&S 2.0.
