Even by some of her own girl / gay fans? I was just reading through some YouTube comments, and it was PAINFUL seeing this gay Britney fan call out a (probably) random bypasser who just happened to like the song (911) and was straight

Ignorant people have been a thing since ever, and black people have been made socially acceptable in general

Gays have been made socially acceptable in general

But being straight and liking Britney is a sin? Go f**k yourself, lmfao

So you're letting one fans comments on YouTube represent the entire Britney Army...... ?

A higher percentage of my straight friends actually like britney vs gays.

Nope, I've seen more of these comments throughout the internet and real life

This time though, I felt like making it a topic

I get that a lot.

A gay from my class came to me and said:

"I don't think it's possible for a straight guy to like Britney Spears"

:xf11:

and there are also people who say that I'm gay for liking her(as if it was a bad thing) :umomg:

I'm a straight dude who likes Britney and I'm proud to say I'm not ashamed.

Music Taste does not define your sexuality.

I love Britney,I have her whole discography right beside my iron maiden discography and anyone who thinks this is unnaceptable can go seek amy themselves,if you know what I mean!

I have no patience :queenflopga:

I also love the fact that Britney never used her majority of gays and girl fans to mark territory. She just adress us as "fans",and it's amazing not to be left out

I also think is very cool that I'm accepted here on Universe, and even made new friends :bomt:

Also, I never wanted to make it look like I was addressing the whole army except straight guy fans. So, I made that more clear in the OP

That's just because Gaga is genuinenly seen as an awkward popstar with no sex appeal (where I come from, anyway)

I think Britney has more straight fans that what we think.. and that's not wrong at all!!!

(My friend likes Britney but secretly.. I don't know why he is not open about that lol.. )

I was a fan from the beginning of her career...and at that time she wasn't necessarily a gay icon. I think 2007 really pushed that forward, and you end up seeing a larger online gay community support her.

There are some gays who like to fuck w strait fans and make them feel out of place. I think for some of them, they feel uneasy around heterosexual so they project those insecurities and try to prey on the insecurities of straits. The thing is, not all strait people are homophobic, so it doesn't work...especially on a Britney site. Many strait people are open-minded and accept gays, and I am willing to assume most hetero Britney fans are not homophobic.

I've seen those comments too, and it seems reactionary and defensive on the commentors part. It's very easy to make a joke out of a hetero Britney fan, and for once the tables are turned where gays are the majority...so really they are just taking advantage of that, whether subconsciously venting aggression that has been turned on them in society, or purposely out of resentment and their desire for the feeling of power in the situation

It's only a certain percentage of gays who do this, and some bisexual people who believe that there is no such thing as hetero. I do think that the majority like to see the diversity and feel acceptance in the fanbase, or just don't care. We should afterall, care about people for the content of their character and not about the way they are born (or personal decisions they make in their private life that don't hurt anyone).

I think the right thing to do Goten, is to just be polite, understand they are often oppressed and mistreated, and not take it personally. If you show love in that situation, it only helps the struggle for all people's acceptance. Take the higher road, and try to be understanding. If they go far w insults, just ignore them. Afterall the LGBT movement cannot go anywhere without the cooperation of strait people, and just cuz they are being a dick one day doesn't mean they will always be...especially if you kill w kindness

yeah I agree... to be really honest for me it does feel gay to be her fan :crying1: my favourite singers are gay icons... it feels embarrassing even though there is no connection between music taste and sexuality :crying2: I wish everyone could be more openhearted and express a different taste!

I'm a fan of Britney Spears and i'm a lesbian. Then many people have asked me why i'm not a fan of P!nk :4music: Yeah i like P!nk but not a hardcore fan.

So that "not accepted" thing not only happens to straight guys.

As if all female fans of Britney were straight, and all male fans of Britney were gay.

Straight men are just men who didn't discover the pleasure of gay sex... yet. ;)

Anyway, this thing "only gays are Britney Spears fans" is bullshit and you shouldn't even pay attention to people who think that cause they're so basic and Britney Army is not for basics. xoxo
