Newer artists receive a lot of, ummm, love? from this kind od, organizations or whatever they are, that are in charge of determining which song is succesful or not, or how succesful it is. Britney in the other hand, it's like if her entire career they've never wanted to see her succeed. Maybe it's just the bad timing when her songs are released, I'm talking about the competition that exists by the time she releases a new single, but no songe should be competition for her. I mean, how on Earth Oops didn't peak higher?

Yes, when I look back on her Billboard Hot 100 chart history, it's sad her singles didn't chart higher. The only contributing factors to the chart back then were sales and airplay, there was no streaming, digital sales, etc. Most of Britney's singles didn't get a proper retail in US, so they could only rely on Top 40 Airplay as their only source. She also had that horrible Clear Channel ban during the Britney era...

 

So, if Britney had the digital era & streaming to her advantage, I think she would have a lot more #1's and a ton more Top 10 hits.

 

Oh well, at least she slayed with Album sales.
