Uhm... Interesting :xf1:

I always asummed that she paid dust to it because, besides failing to chart as good as her previous ones, she was totally focused on Vegas and Vegas only.

But now, I think it might be because it was nowhere near what she wanted it to be.. So why bother, you know?  :yaknow:

You got me thinking :inneresting:

Actually I like it. It's not her best, it's not outstanding, but it's great. So much better than Blackout :xf1:

It is weak in production, but it has so many different styles, they could have released so many singles directed to different audiences, the euro-dance tracks like Til It's Gone or It Should Be Easy, slow ballads like Don't Cry or Hold on Tight, something more fresh and Britney-ish like Alien, something more urban like Tik Tik Boom, or something more mystical like Passenger or Now That I Found You.

It's not that bad, as everybody made it look, just because it wasn't Blackout 2.0, and most importantly because it flopped on the charts, because of the lack of promo. I think its most important attribute is its variety :yaknow: which is something that always characterized her albums. You listen to Prism or that Beyoncé's album and it's just the same song over and over.

It wasn't what Britney wanted? Most likely. We'll never know what kind of tracks were scrapped from the album, maybe she just didn't want to release it, and just went with the flow of what will.i.am offered to her. Maybe this time around it wasn't that they forced her to follow that direction, but it was her fault for not saying no in time, and she ended up where will.i.am wanted to.

I just hope for the next album she really gets excited about it, I hope she gets to feel really proud of it and that makes her want to perform on every TV show, and release 10 videoclips, and perform every single song from it to show us how happy she really is with it. :crying5:  But I still listen to Britney Jean, and I think I'll keep doing so in a long time, contrary to Femme Fatale for example, which I really loved back in 2011, but by 2012 I barely listened to it.

Haha it is super ITZ! Lots of people love it, I remember a lot of people wanting it as the third single.

:yesplz: yes and I was one of those people  :britney-awyeah: #justice4tiktikboom

I really wish it had been :crying2:

what do you think would have been a cool concept for ttb music video??

For me, it's Blackout > FF = ITZ = OIDIA > Circus > Baby > BJ = Britney. I like solid records overall because I look at cohesiveness and quality of tracks, which is prolly why i love OIDIA so much and why for me FF (as an album) is on par with ITZ, just in different subgenres of pop. Circus is a mixed bag for me, some I like and some I don't. I'm not a fan of BJ or Britney much, even if Britney is her best era :eekk:

To me, cohesion is the ultimate sign of artistic direction, something I see a lot of in BO/FF/ITZ/OIDIA (my fave albums) and not as much (if at all) in the rest. idk, I could be weird :pieceofwhat:

That's very interesting, because for me it's actually the opposite. I think "cohesion" makes the records boring. It puts them on a position where or you love it or you hate it, and you kinda restrict your audience, as an artist. Variety is more interesting for me, and shows me that the artist is not married to a sound, or a formula, and that is capable of giving different things than just one kind of sound/vibe. And I think Femme Fatale and Blackout land on that category. In the Zone at least has songs like Everytime or Brave New Girl, which many might find out of place with the whole record, but for me is that kind of gems which make the albums, and those tracks themselves, very special.

I like "cohesion", if we talk about the kind of cohesion that OIDIA has, which has a mixture of up-tempos and ballads, but you can clearly recognize the similarities on the production. I like Circus and Britney as well, they have so many different kind of tracks, but I think that makes them fresh, I don't know :yaknow:

No, I totally get it, I'm really lenient on Britney because it's my favorite era. I can't listen to the entire album at once, and the music videos definitely make the songs. But I love ILR&R, Before The Goodbye, Slave, Lonely, Let Me Be so, so much. They give me good feelings. But Oops does, too. I like your ratings. But like I said, I really feel BJ is a transitional album, and the albums I called transitional (BJ, Britney, Circus) are all in your bottom half and the albums following are in your top half!  :yay1:  Good sign.

Britney Jean wasn't what anyone wanted. :frenchy:

When she first listened to it on her computer, she was probably like :surpriseney: And she was like get it away from me asap omg  :ahhhhhh:

And pressed "send to larry" as Halloween joke but Larry doesn't get jokes cause he's old so he just released it :yaknow:

And then praised will.i.am for job well done on Body Ache vocals :bffs:

And she was like bitch wat u do  :oopsie: But he gave her nice scooter so she didn't give 2 shits bout the album and rode happily :Scooterney: The End! :bffs:

What a nice story!

The last time I listened to the album in full was December or whenever it came out. it's definately her worst. I only like Alien and Perfume and maybe WB and TTB if I'm in the mood when I'm working out.

However, lbr, before it flopped everyone else lived it. Yhere were a couple of haters but ya'll loved it :byebitch:

In Britney's GMA interview she said we are going to take our time on this Album. I think Britney knew she rushed the "BJ" Album which made it weak. She has never rushed an Album before and she never will again.

A few haters? :zoomzoom: there's a reason it sold that bad first week and overall...and the critics slammed it on arrival...there are a lot of members of the b army that said before she released it that they were leavin if she did basic ass edm AGAIN and she did...and flopped harder than Janet

Do you think Britney Jean wasn't what she wanted by any means? Maybe some songs but that's it. I mean she barely promoted it and if she loved the album and it was close to her she would of promoted it. And at first I loved the album and now with a few weeks not listening to it and going back now I can't stand the album. Definitely is one of her worst albums

I've said this from the beginning...I don't think that she was involved in the making of this album...the production is messy, her vocals are good on some songs, but she has way better vocals on other albums...her voice cracks a lot in some songs, it seems that they did only 1 or 2 takes and that's it...the rest was taken care by software and back vocals...

the album isn't cohesive, which is one of the characteristics on the albums that britney is really involved (ITZ and blackout)...the songs may have different influences but they all have this certain vibe that she talks a lot...britney jean has nothing of that...

she probably connects herself with some songs, because of the lyrics, but the album as a whole no...I don't think it has anything to do with promotion...I believe that the new album will not have promotion as well, or at least something like femme fatale, 2 promotional pocket shows and that's it...I believe it was a marketing scheme...she had to do one more album, and everybody rushed, so it could promote vegas, and since it wasn't going to have any promotion, they came up with this strategy of saying that it was her most personal album ever...so that the fans would buy it

oops was very rushed!! they even got some of the baby album rejected tracks to the album!! but oops got a good result, britney jean failed big time

The Army was very meh on it on arrival. Britney's fans tend to overrate any new music but with this one, comments were more polarizing. Haven't seen this on other Britney albums.

:tea: I don't get the "ppl hate it cuz it flopped" that's not true at the time b/o was released it was considered a flop compared to primeney but fans were so satisfied and she gained so much respect the industry with that album...beyonce, kelly clarkson, Rihanna, etc. were all bowing to that flawfree gem...if bj was a quality album it wouldn't have been panned by fans and critics alike and the songs would have sold themselves if they were hits...bj contains no hits work bitch only became iconic b/c danceney returned from ashes to slay our existence

Didn't care for it when it was released.

Didn't care for it when it flopped.

Still don't like it now.

Idgaf about how much Britney promotes something or how many #1 hits she gets. Quality over quantity, always and forever. Britney Jean is heavily lacking in quality, and in result quantity because it was just very disappointing all around. Sad to say, but I have not and most likely will not ever purchase it. The generic, lackluster, and uninspired EDM needs to go.

What annoys me the most was that the only complaint about FF was that it was generic and soulless in spite of its amazing production and catchiness. With BJ, we still got generic but now we lost even the good prod and catchiness! :zoomzoom: They're clearly not listening to us so I'm glad it flopped.

:tea: I'm so happy it flopped I didn't buy it and I never will that doesn't make me less a fan like someone else here said...I didn't like it so I didn't buy it and I didn't illegally dl it either...i genuinely hate the album and never listen to it and I plan to continue forgetting it exist...I can't believe they released that album...the reason fans didn't want Max and dr. Luke was b/c they didn't want generic edm...the production was never a thought b/c she's Britney Spears everyone assumed she'd get amazing producers...however we got forgettable horribly written basic ass songs with mediocre production and vocals sang by other bitches

This is just a question out of curiosity I'm about to ask: Do you not prefer music that has elements of the urban/r&b style?

I know that for me, songs in genres I don't like (country, which is the main one) all tend to sound the same to me.

Not a fan of Beyonce and her attention-seeking ways, but her latest album was very diverse in terms of an r&b album. And I do like it.

Blackout was not as big of a success as her first four albums in terms of sales and the like. However, it is in the Hall of Fame for a reason (and that's not the only reason I like as I have loved it since that day I bought it). Again I ask if you just don't like urban music at all because I can so very clearly hear the differences between each track. Ooh Ooh Baby and Heaven on Earth sound nothing like each other or any other track. Gimme More is a standout club banger, and the rest are similar in their urban nature but still different. Piece of Me and Freakshow are in their own lanes as well.

And Britney had quite of bit of say in ITZ and B/O, so that was in fact how she wanted to those albums to sound. Even the Britney album had pop-urban influences in quite a few of its songs (Anticipating has that upbeat pop/r&b style, for example. Even though it doesn't sound like much else on the album).

Of course, if you like Britney Jean then that's your opinion and that's great. I like urban, edm, pop, and rock and listen to all of those genres a whole lot (and not just with Britney), so for me to say I don't like BJ, goes far beyond the style of music and how many copies it did or did not sell.

I can't at bj is better than b/o...can you IMAGINE the slayage b/o would have if she had a good image in the gp...it's still successful and a classic despite everything that hindered it...bj had a flawfree Britney with basic ass songs...if the Britney that slayed in work bitch made a video for gm, bti, or Pom the universe would have been slayed

Tbqfh :tea:

I really think some fans just don't like Blackout because they don't like urban music and r&b to begin with (even though the album is still very pop). Some think Blackout is loved because of the hype surrounding it. But no, the music and production was truly without flaw.

Britney Jean was just.....

Also, I think most fans who love BJ weren't stans from the beginning. They started liking Brit sometime after 2008 and are taking whatever they can get and then raising on a pedestal just because it's new material and they are excited to get music from their relatively new fave.

I have seen Britney at her best (even after a public breakup with ITZ), at her worst (when she STILL put out a masterpiece with B/O) and then have a pretty great comeback even when maybe she wasn't ready (Circus). So I know Britney is so much more than what Britney Jean has to offer. There are no excuses as to why a pop legend's eighth (not 1st, 2nd, or 3rd) studio album was released in the state it was. She wasn't even going through any struggles during 2013 (like in 2006 and 2007). There was enough time to make it amazing. Of course, Will.i.Am happened, so....
