Perfume Is Amazing Tbh

It doesn't deserve the hate. It's my second favorite ballad of hers after Everytime and she clearly loves it too. It's so fun to sing along too.. It deserved to peak in the top 20

Perfume is a good song, but it feels so rush. Maybe if it had another verse or something it'd ne better and of course without the unnecessary production. The Dreaming Mix is much better.

I love it too! I remember how emotional I was when I first heard it, the lyrics may not be the best, but you just need to listen to the emotion on her voice to feel the message of the song. She sings with such passion. I'd just wish there was a bridge tho

Perfume is definitely one of my all time favourite Britney songs. Severely underrated and unappreciated by some fans simply because of it's chart position on the Billboard Hot 100. If it would've peaked inside the top 10, fans would be hailing it as one of her best ballads instead of labeling it as a "flop" and constantly criticising it. While the production may lack a little and leave more to be desired, it's one of the best vocal tracks we've heard from Britney in a very long time. Vocally, the song shows that she's more than capable of holding her own when it comes to singing a ballad and is also very emotionally emotive too which is a major element which was missing from Femme Fatale.

It's a truly beautiful song and Britney's performance on the track is strong. Sure, it's not perfect but that's life. I never really understood the hate many of the fans gave it (as Opulence said before I feel it came from it not performing well on the charts and fans just writing it off as a flop). But one read-through of the wikipedia article on the song will show that though it physically didn't do well, it received quite positive acclaim from critics and the general public. I honestly feel like sometimes the fans are far harder on Britney than they like to seem they are.

My friend is currently working on a cruise ship so she hasn't really been up on new music for a good bit. She likes Britney but isn't a stan. She just heard Perfume for the first time and this is the text I received:

 

"I'm in a coffee shop hearing Britney's new song! I don't know what it's called? Perfume, or Territory? But it's sooooo good and it made me so happy because it's the side of her that I've missed. It's being downloaded now and will be playing on repeat tonight in my cabin hahaha."

 

Just thought I'd share a positive view of the song outside the circle of stans.

No...the song really is weak, it's completely degrading towards Britney's career. As a song, it is just OK, but it's ok for a rookie, somebody who just started doing the business, for a fucking LEGEND, this song is a step backwards and degrading. The instrumental is weak and basic, her vocals in it are nice, i agree on that, but it didn't manage to make the song any better. Won't even discuss about the MV

I agree. The song needed a bridge, a better production and the original music video. Still love it but it's like repeating one word again and again. But I love it

I think the whole music video drama killed the song itself for fans. Too bad, with better video it could be a decent hit.
