Well, the album got a lot of promo, and I guess people were interested in seeing an outrageous pop artist like Gaga singing jazz. I feel happy for her tho, she took a risk and she deserve the success and Britney supports her too :)

First of all, the album was discounted to $6.99. Gaga was begging across all of social media. Secondly, it only made it to #1 by LESS than 1,000 copies. Tony Bennett's last album, Duets II, also debuted at #1 and it was a solo album so if it was simply a Gaga album it would have flopped harder. Despite having "two powerful stars" + a huge discount + gaga begging across all of social media + decent promo + positive reviews it still could not top Streisand's previous week debut figures and she sold almost as much as Cheap to Cheap in the second week.

so yeah, the album really underperformed in the UK and Australia and is already out of the Top 60 (UK) and Top 90 (Australia) on iTunes. It's also dropped out of the Top 20 in America and that's obviously her strongest market. Little Monsters really believe C2C can go platinum but it's looking poorly so far. It had a decent(ish) debut but it's not gonna last.

The only thing that might help it is the Starbucks promo. Everyone loves Starbucks.

This. Most of success is because of Tony imo.

well idc really, if she did well good for her...I don't think it's gonna be anything noteworthy though

it's hard to say which fanbases appealed to more people or if it is a gimmick outsiders buy into

are collab albums always successful? :'(

I can't think of many off the top of my head...was the Jay-Z/Linkin Park collab album successful?

I think it was successful this week because of curiousity of 2 fanbases and to those who lost faith in gaga but are intrigued by a direction that won't focus on her theatrics, but I doubt it will sustain sales tbh

can't stand lady ga ga and her cashing in on the whole it's great to be "different" crap that her and programmes like glee pretend to stand for. taking on the role of ambassador for people who want to be themselves and are bullied. i never get why being your self involves dressing up like you would do for Halloween you would think being yourself would be not caring how you look on the outside more like britney when she goes about her business in comfortable clothes and her so called monsters are notorious for bullying people. more like the dictator and propaganda brain washed followers not little monsters. britneys been longer in the business so her fans are not as fanatical as lady gagas give it 16 years i wonder will gaga be having number one albums. she is very trend orientated in what she is about.

Plus Femme Fatale sold more than ARTPOP WW and was wayyy more sucessful

Massive Sold Out Tour compared to the Art Cave Tour

ikr.. I doubt Gaga will have a strong career in like 10 years from now.. will Gaga even match up to Circus and Femme Fatales success 7 years from now?

Why feel threatened by it? It'll fall into obscurity before you know it. And we all know Monsters bought hella extra copies :frenchy:

Watch The Throne was immensely successful, same with Collision Course; trend holds true if you look back in time too, like Lennon & Yoko's chart topper Double Fantasy and Diana Ross and the Supremes & The Temptation's classic TCB. Even in the indie world, the lead singer of The Shins teamed up with Danger Mouse to form Broken Bells, which has incredible success over two albums, and St. Vincent & David Byrne's Love This Giant paved the way for St. Vincent's immense commercial and critical success this year with her new eponymous album :mhm:

it's something to be done tastefully though, mind you; the Gags and Bennett happen to be such a coupling and, to the GP, an intriguing duo.

I agree with your point but calling the Femme Fatale Tour a "Massive Sold Out Tour" is REALLY pushing it.  :displeased:
