Sad. It really tells the original meaning of the song better than the official version. Britney has co-opted the song to be an empowering attitude song which the original version highlights great.

So true, I'm often confused and I wonder how people can be so mean to someone vulnerable. Yes. they really fed on someone's misery. They attacked her emotionally and tooked her privacy with the pretext that she's a celebrity. I read someone's comment the other day and it said : ''When I see celebrities breakdown I sit back and laugh''... There's a lot of selfish people that don't have an ounce of empathy. In a video where she's been carried to go to rehab, people in the background are laughing. It's inhuman. When I think about stuff like this, it makes me sad that we humans can get at this level of evil and worse. Hopefully, for her, it's better now.

The ballad format completely changes the tone of the song. In it's original state, it seems like an F.U. to the paps, and everyone who hated on her. In this version, it's like she is stating that everybody wants a piece of her, and that no matter what she does, they will always want more and push harder to get her to slip up, just so they can say "I told you she wouldn't make it".
