Reviewers noted the use of Auto-Tune in Spears' voice. Ewing said that Blackout serves as a reminder of how instantly recognizable Spears' vocals are, saying that "treated or untreated: her thin Southern huskiness is one of the defining sounds of 00s pop." He noted that the album "is a masterclass in autotune and vocal treatment as a studio instrument, disrupting and jamming the songs as much as it helps them.’’ While reviewing Spears' demo of "Telephone", Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone compared it to "Piece of Me", "proving yet again how much impact Britney has had on the sonics of current pop. People love to make fun of Britney, and why not, but if 'Telephone' proves anything, it's thatBlackout may be the most influential pop album of the past five years." In June 2012, "Blackout" was added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's musical library and archive, in recognition of the album's musical and cultural influence, as well as significance.

In October 2012, Spears had mentioned the possibility of making a follow-up to Blackouttweeting "I heard Happy Birthday Blackout was trending earlier... thank u all for loving the album as much as I do. Blackout 2.0?" In May 2013, Danja commented that he "[doesn't] know when the next [Blackout] is going to be, but [he believes] there’s going to be another one." In October, however, Spears announced that her eighth studio album would be titled Britney Jean (2013).

Spears won by 37% of the votes, and over 16,000 votes were cast. Blackout won International Album of the Year at the 2008 NRJ Music Awards, and Album of the Year at the 2008 MTV Europe Music AwardsThe Times named it as the fifth best pop album of the decade. The album also appeared on Rolling Stone 's end of the decade poll, where it was voted the seventh best album of the decade by readers. The influential magazine Stylus also named Blackout the 54th best album of the 2000s, with critic Brad Shoup commenting "No treacle, no pity: this is the Britney that Lady GaGa sought to hermetically replicate, a set of Europe-informed broadsides unmatched that year [2007] for defiant pop bleakness."

Radar was included as a bonus track on Circus due to Jive singing a contract with Bloodshy & Avant to release the song as a single.

Jive Records had initially signed a contract with the producers Boodshy & Avant to make this song a single from "Blackout".

When the plans to release it as a single had been cancelled,  Jive Records, to avoid violating the contract and to compensate the Swedish duo, decided to put "Radar" on "Circus" as a temporary bonus track that would definitely be used as a single.

In fact,"Radar" was sold to Jive for a price lower than desired because Jive assured that it would be released as a single from the album ("Blackout")

During the era of "Circus", the singles were printed with a delay in comparison to their actual release on radio and television, except in Australia where the singles appeared on the market a week after the release of the music video. The ridiculous thing was that the "If U Seek Amy" single was published in AUS a week before the release of the "Circus" single in Taiwan!

"If U Seek Amy" was censored,  the letter "K" was removed from the word "seek" – due to the controversy around the true meaning of the title (fuck me). "If U See Amy", was printed on some promotional CDs, like the UK ones, allowing for a ‘sensor’ so to say…

After "Radar" was released as a single from the "Circus" album, in Colombia the single cover was printed with a beautiful limited edition golden box containing both "Blackout" and "Circus" as the album it was derived from.  To avoid having albums repeat songs, "Radar" was removed from the track list on "Blackout" leaving only 11 tracks.

"If U Seek Amy" was so successful in Brazil that 4 promotional cd were released containing every possible remix!

"Out From Under" was supposed to be the third single from "Circus", but Britney refused. Some people say because it was a cover and others say it was sue to it being a ballad, however the fact remains that Britney refused it’s release and insisted she chose "If U Seek Amy"

"Mannequin" was seriously considered as the fifth and final single from the album, sue to the tour being extended, but it didn't happen because they opted to release the "The Singles Collection" instead and release a new single instead.

In Australia, at first, there was strong opposition to release "Radar" to radio stations because they already played the song a year before as a single from "Blackout". They considered releasing "Shattered Glass" or ''Unusual U'' as a single instead, but decided not to promote any fourth single from "Circus" at all.

In Japan the deluxe edition of the album wasn't printed until the "Circus" music video was release.  The music video was then later added as bonus content on the DVD included in the "Circus Deluxe Edition" This was released in February 2009.

DJ Junkie XL confirmed in August 2008 that the album was originally scheduled to be released in April 2009, also confirmed by Britney in the OK Magazine interview.

During a radio interview in July 2008, Lady Gaga, who worked on two songs for the album, also said that the album probably wouldn’t be released until mid-2009.

Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, who also worked with Britney on some material for the album, his tracks never made the final cut, said that Circus would be released in early 2009.It seems that Jive wanted an earlier release and tried to rush the album.

The spoken intro of "Kill The Lights", a track by Danja, is actually taken from a real report of an American radio station in 1938 : "ladies and gentlemen, we interrupt our program of dance music to bring you a special bulletin of the intercontinental radio news".

The producer also confirmed that the background noise at the beginning of the track is as close as it possibly could be to the real background noise of the bulletin.

The decision to call the album "Circus" was made even before completing the track list of the album. An official from Zomba Records stated in a popular forum that Britney wanted to re-record the chorus of "Circus" which appeared different from the demos to refine and define the track list of the project that already had  that name.

The circus tour was planned to go to Mexico and South America but 80% of the arenas where not able to hold the stage and the idea of the centre stage...Adapting the stage for the arena was too expensive.

Andre Fuentes (main choreographer) from Womanizer, Circus, The promo and the mannequin rehearsal was fired on January after he had a fight with Jamie. He was caught smoking weed and he didn't want to sign the contract of no hard partying or alcohol during the tour

Britney used a wig for the album photo shoot, womanizer video, circus video and if u seek Amy video due to her visible hair extensions.

It is believed that they filmed all the circus tour and it was planned for a DVD release, but Jive couldn't release it due to copyrights... there were filming dates, in LA, Las Vegas, Paris, London and New Orleans. The DVD was rumoured to be a show from Paris and other sources say it was from LA or the London O2 arena
